Sucks about your car man! I know you've heard it already, but it's a piece of metal that can be replaced! Just get yourself checked out and make sure YOU are okay. Let the insurance company worry about your car!

Wow, the damage looks eerily similar to my crash. See pics here:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59414 Since no other parties were involved, it looks like insurance's only concern will be repairing or replacing (most likely replacing, in your case) your vehicle for the fairest value they can come up with. They shouldn't be too concerned about mods or whether or not your TCS was on (it shouldn't bar you from making a claim, nor do you need to disclose the information to them) so just salvage what you can and let them take care of the rest

Just drove to San Diego Thursday night. It was raining pretty hard. Hope you're doing okay still.

@leicaboss
I'm glad you are feeling better. As others have said, cars are simply tools and can be replaced. My two cents for whatever little it's worth. I'm probably older than most of you (at 40) but I've had two solo accidents during my younger days that involved me spinning out. After the second accident, I started attending car control clinics and autocrosses. Those make a huge difference. Just getting comfortable with the tail sliding around helps a lot when you are on the street in different scenarios (especially with rain, snow, etc.). |

I'm so grateful you are okay! Very scary to be in accidents like this. I've been in my share of street accidents. I was in a Civic with a friend when he rolled it 4 times. I was a passenger in a '67 Mustang that unintentionally and unsuccessfully "Dukes of Hazarded" a ditch, and I was t-boned by an RV while in a '95 GT (that one really hurt)
. They all suck because they are usually the least anticipated. Don't feel that you don't deserve the car! That's totally not true. Anyone who enjoys their car will likely have some mishap at some point. It may be big or it might be small. A good friend of mine who has been racing successfully for many years in Autocross and SCCA was on a drive with a group of friends through the canyons in Malibu. He was driving the car that we spent years developing and racing. On a simple corner, he hit a patch of freshly fallen rocks and debris. The car lost traction and flew off of the canyon. He wasn't speeding, but no traction is no traction. Doesn't matter what speed it is. Needless to say, that car was done for. Thankfully, and miraculously, he survived with a few stitches to his head. You're not alone. Things like this happen. What's important is that you learn from it, and don't let it deter you from enjoying life! :thumb up: Oh... and don't drive off cliffs! https://www.facebook.com/groups/cl1ffjump3r/ |

Like everyone has been saying, soooooo glad you're physically ok. I know it sucks. Mentally it's about as tough as it gets for a car guy/girl. So I'll be praying to the car gods for your speedy recovery (physical/mental) and for everything involving your car and insurance to be worked out quickly and smoothly.

Hi everyone, I know I haven't been too responsive, but I've been reading the outrageously supportive things being said here, and it really makes me feel a lot better. After the initial crash, I didn't feel much, but in the following days I began to experience more physical pain: neck and shoulder pain, wrist injury from rock climbing made far worse, vision impairment and even my first panic attacks. I feel a bit embarrassed to say these things as I take great pride (perhaps wrongly) in my physical fortitude and stamina in things like climbing and cycling, so it's been a humbling experience. However, I am happy to say I am finally pulling out of it. Sleep and time off work has really helped me recover, though I honestly a quite a bit afraid of rain and RWD (though I have dealt with both in previous cars) - reminds me of Takumi's AWD complex, haha. The pictures don't show nearly all the damage that's been done, the interior is pretty rattled up, trunk can no longer be aligned, trunk appears to be bent up a bit, impact also shoved the tools and spare off center hard. The car took the brunt of the impact flying up the curb sideways, and backwards... The rear wheel took the hit first against the high curb followed by the front. Then the rear quarter took a huge hit slowing me down from about 30mph to 0mph due to a tree being there. Needless to say, I am literally the opposite of stance nation with crazy positive camber and wheels far, far away from the fenders. Side airbag blew up in my face and did a good job of preventing me from running my face through the glass. The car was running sport mode, foolishly confident - but I've never had the car snap back at me - I don't know if snap oversteer is the right term, but the bit of slide completely turned around so viciously and forced me to eventually land the car not only off the road, but above it on a grass laden curb about 1.5 feet off the ground (the entire car!). I couldn't even get out, had to crawl out of the passenger side. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

So sorry for the extra post, but my iPad for some reason isn't letting me edit.
Anyhow, my car is at my dealer in LA (Longo) which is where I originally bought it, coincidentally. The initial inspector told me it looked like one of the worst hits he has seen, but another guy said it was nothing. To be honest, I'm totally confused and very worried, I am praying it gets totaled because I would hate to lose value instantly and also worry about safety and not being able to see my car in the same light... Not sure what the outcome will be but I would love any feedback! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I'm no expert but if the frame damage is unfixable and too expensive to fix then it will be totaled. From the looks of it. It is a 50/50 chance it may be totaled. If the lca mount moved and is unalign able then you have a chance. I think the pole hit is what the adjuster will look at the most. If you just hit the curb then it would be more fixable.
