So I am going to post here since I rode in Ricky's car yesterday. I am Ricky's other brother-in-law who doesn't live in his basement and I have a real job.
I have been waiting 3-4 years to ride in this car and maybe in a few weeks he'll let me drive it when the honeymoon ends. Riding in the car proved a lot for me. I have been waiting for the right car to come along to make my "Garage Queen" (2nd car). I skipped my younger years (as a car guy) of buying a car and going into debt with all of it's mods during high school and college which was the smart thing to do. I am reaching my 10 year reunion from high school and I have been waiting a LONG time. I have been working hard, married the right girl, bought the ring, houses, have a cute little girl and I took care of everyone else before me while I bought $6K - $10K cars to commute in. Now, I currently have a company car for my commuting but I just bought a huge house with a large 3 car garage. The problem is that there is that empty space (Sad...). So personally I have been mainly interested in 3 cars: 86, Gen Coupe R-Spec 2.0T, & potentially doing the S14 route. Whatever I end up doing I want to do right the first time. I want to keep the car for like 15 years and keep working on it. It will be a low mileage car and only driven on summer days...worked on in the rainy season. Here my thoughts after riding in the car... I was extremely impressed with every part of the car (Ricky already explained this in length and did a good job). I like the gen coupe because of it's modification and tuning capabilities. It looks good if you do some body work on it too. The BRZ looks perfect even with stock wheels and there is a TON of aftermarket support on this (parts obviously in development) My only disappointing thing really (when deciding which car to go with this year) is acceleration...but is it? I had a 2005 Sentra SE-R and it pulled just like the BRZ and I liked it. However, the BRZ is a WAY better performer. I just saw a video from the Japan HKS website (see below) which shows their GT Supercharger installed in the 86 engine bay. It's beautiful! You can tell they are in the final stages of making this supercharger kit. With that being said, and all of the aftermarket support we have seen this car truly is the best platform to modify. I know we haven't seen everything come out yet...however this car clearly is engineered with the enthusiast in mind. The light weight (500lbs less than a Gen coupe) makes a huge difference in every aspect of the car along with the lower center of gravity. The driver seat is better than any other car I have sat in. I am 6'3" and it's perfect. So what do you guys think? I am thinking the 86 is a better platform to modify than the S14 and Gen Coupe. Especially since I planning on sinking $40K total into the car with modifications. (within a space of like 5-8 years) Here is the video showing the supercharger: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwIilncWpG8"]HKS GT Supercharger for 86/BRZ #ft86 #lovecars - YouTube[/ame] |

wow the entire hood and fenders with clear bra?...interesting. I have it on my car but only partials on hood an fenders...and I hate the "lines" where it stops.
In the vid the car looks very much satin or matte (as opposed to high gloss)...is that the way it looks in person? In fact the bimmer looks "glossier" or is just the lighting and resolution? I'm asking because I'm beginning to reconsider SWP... |

This is what the SWP looked like on 4/21/12 at an auto show I was at. I decided it was a terrible color as it looked dull and beige but I have not seen any other SWP look like this. Tainen's looks hot.

Awesome dude. Exactly what I would have got. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your mods when they happen.

Looks like the HKS charger deletes the A/C. Also SWP is not some new color, you can probably spot it at your subie dealer to see if its your thing.

Hmm... well, with the 35% it didn't really have much effect. if you are going darker than that though, it'd probably be too dark.
Dyno vid uploading now...

WTF AFR got down into the 10s...I thought that only happened on 2 bar boost turbo cars. I guess that's what the Cobb video had too.

yeah, if we can get that AFR more flat, it'd probably really help...
stay tuned.

Wow that ran rich past 5500rpm.
I assume that was measured with a sniffer at the back of the car?
