Upgrade driving skills, then upgrade car staying NA, upgrade driving skills. Once you are faster than BMW, Porsche and Ferrari drivers on track, then upgrade car.

I bought a used 350z with the intent of making it into a decent track car. It's taking more money and time than I expected though:
1) Radiator fans died. Not too expensive. 2) Understeer on the track. Looking into buying a square tire/wheel setup to remedy. Expensive when you're talking 18x9 with 275 width tires. 350z is heavy and needs wide tires, moreso than the FR-S. 3) Square setup requires a VDC over-ride switch. Need to wire one up. Cheap. 4) Needs a full fluid change since I bought it used. Not too expensive. 5) Brakes - I have factory Brembos, which are fine for basic track use, but will need to upgrade pads at the least. Probably need a set of rotor blanks as well. 6) Front camber. Will likely need quality front upper arms. Expensive. 7) Burns oil. The uprev VQ35DEs are notorious for this. I haven't noticed it yet, but am keeping my eye on it. Can't think of any solutions. At this point, I'm thinking of switching my 350Z into my daily driver and my FR-S into a weekend track car. The FR-S is actually pretty good for the track out of the box, moreso than the 350z IMO. Not as fast, but doesn't need as much work and is cheaper to maintain. And the 350z is actually turning out to be a good daily driver. Lots of torque, heated leather seats, awesome stereo, xenons, homelink, auto-dimming mirror, etc. Funny how this is turning out.
