Figured I would make my contributions to this thread. Pretty sure I'm guilty of saying dampening when reading some vendor threads. I will correct my actions immediately so I am not attacked by the e-community.

Really easy to mix it up tho honestly. Especially in different contexts - like ending it in 'ed. Dampened or Damped? The latter just sounds wrong doesn't it?

Kinda like pronouncing Homogenous and Homogeneous. Many say Homogenous (4 syl; like homogenize); but correct pronunciation is Homogeneous (5 syllable; like homo-sexual).
