WTF??? You think leather and TSW wheels on a FRS is a common sight at Scion dealerships. Where the hell in socal did you see this abomination? You do know that dealer options like these are designed specifically for price gouging.
______

I think Clint can get you a BRZ limited for under $26k? Got my 10 series for almost $2K under MSRP. Don't get fooled by the Pure Pricing BS.

my point is that what you see at dealerships isnt any evidence that the miata costs 30k just like the frs doesnt cost 32k. i wouldnt spend anywhere near that much for either of those cars

which is fine with me. if you look back, my comment was in response to a statement regarding the miata starting at 30k. i wouldnt buy the nc miata over the brz (and i didnt) with the intentions of keeping it stock but that isnt even what this thread is about.

a lot of speculation is going on about nd miata but if the test mule is any indication, it is going to be larger than the current product. that might not mean heavier and i think mazda has been the best company in regards to weight over the course of my driving career but the car hasnt gained much weight over 20 years so id be surprised if it hits a lot of the rumored targets.

Your 17 and drive a good vehicle now. Why not wait until you at least get some published reviews of the new Miata to see if it is for you and if you would prefer it to an FR-S?

Otherwise you may end up with buyers remorse if the reviews prefer the Miata to the FT-86.

Prices don't include options and $795 Destination Fee. These cost more than an FT86, and the FT86 is a better car in almost every way.

Holy cow that is expensive.. Nice car nonetheless and the 2 guys I've chatted with owning these cars were pretty friendly people.

Maybe irrelevant but I recall last week's Reuters article reporting that car manufacturers over produced 2014 vehicles particularly family sedans. Talking like 4,5,6 thousand off MSRP! I'll be a bit disappointed to see that with my beloved FRS

if you're going to buy a miata (which everyone definitely should at some point) get an na or nb. the 86 is a fantastic car... but it's no '96 r, yet. maybe in a few more years.

i'm not suggesting people should sell their 86's and buy old miatas. i'm just suggesting that people should buy old miatas before they're all in the junkyard somewhere (or the spec guys eat them all up). it's an experience every gearhead should have, twice.

I don't care what car you get.

Just go thank your parents on behalf of the rest of the world for teaching you how to use complete sentences and grammar.

You are what the millennials should be rather than a bunch of lazy ***gots that can't even use google right and expect their hands held the whole way through any decision.

MR2 Spyders are uber cool, handle great, chicks dig 'em, you can find super low mile examples for super cheap, they live forever, people ask what it is all the time (I answer Ferrari), plus they handle better than any car I have ever been in

But if you are 6' 4" will you actually fit in the Spyder or the Miata? My 6' 4" buddy on Maui used to sit in the passenger seat and his head was above the windshield! FRS might have more headroom.

To summarize, 17-yr old kid looking for 1000+ bonus points for having a push start button presents with complaint of not being able to operate the standard transmission on the FRS well so now he wants help to decide if he should buy. The kid just started learning how to use a standard transmission 1-week ago.

Assessment: Mostly likely kid just sucks ballz at driving. To be treated with a hefty dose of grow-the-fuck-up and learn how to drive.

I don't see what's wrong with a 17 year old getting an old Civic as a first car, as they were very fun to drive good handling cars with fully independent 4 wheel double wishbone suspension all around, and fast revving 4 cylinder engines. A modern Civic drives like garbage in comparison imo.

I first learned how to drive in a new 3rd gen Integra back in the 90s and I find it was a much better car in some aspects than my BRZ (cable throttle, lower hoodline, a shifter that clicks into gears more precisely, corners like on rails even stock). There's nothing grandpa about it at all even today.

There was also another nice compact FR called the Nissan Silvia / 240SX that most people have forgotten.
