The stock struts should hold up for a while with a quality lowering spring like Eibach or RCE that has a mild drop. Even if the struts go out in a couple years, you can use it as an excuse to pick up the Koni struts you mentioned in your original post.

Also, keep in mind that the 15mm, 20mm, & 25mm spacers that "ericmpena" is suggesting is only good if you're going to use stock sized wheels (17x7 +48 offset) and stock sized tires (215/45/17). He was only mentioning those spacers as a means for moving the stock sized wheels/tires out closer to the fender so it will look more flush. You definitely would not want to use spacers that large with your 17x9 Rotas.

I apologize if you knew that already, but just wanted to make sure you weren't mixing our suggestions up. My suggestions were tailored toward the use of your Rotas and what it will take to get them to fit without rubbing (what makes them fit will look good too!). "ericmpena's" suggestion only applies to stock sized wheels and tires and is only for looks and isn't necessary for clearance to the fenders or struts.

Your Rotas will only require a 3mm spacer in the front if you choose to run Front Camber Bolts and 245/40/17 tires. I think this would be best for you.

If you don't want to run a spacer up front with your Rotas and 245/40/17 tires, then you're left with these choices for inbound clearance:

1) Don't use front camber bolts; just keep your stock bolts
2) Use front camber bolts but run 235/40/17 tires. This would limit your tire brand choices and the tires would be slightly stretched on your 17x9 wheels (but would be fine).
3) Install coilovers. They have skinnier springs and will give you enough inbound room to run 245/40/17 tires AND use front camber bolts WITHOUT a spacer.

I hope this helps and I'm sorry it's so confusing. There are many options and things to consider for both looks and proper fitment

The advice I gave above applies to both the stock springs or any aftermarket lowering springs because they are the same diameter and use the stock struts. Your Rotas and a 245/40/17 tire will be very close to the front spring perch but will fit fine if you do NOT use camber bolts in the front. If you want camber bolts, then just get 3mm spacers.

As long as you can slide a credit card between the inside of the tire and the spring perch, you're good.

Yeah, struts will be okay since it isn't over an inch. Even if you went 1.5" with Sportlines you could still stay with factory struts, however you will notice a harsher ride quality.

Yeah, my advise is only for spacing out the stock wheels and tires. If you change it up to a wider tire, then obviously you won't want those spaced out 25mm! If you're planning on putting your Rotas on there anyways then I'd just hold off on buying spacers and save the money.

Also, I'm pretty sure that with a 1" drop from the Pro-Kit you won't even need front camber bolts. You should still be able to get your wheels aligned with the factory camber bolts.

Front camber bolts are only $25 anyways, so that's not a big deal...but like the other guy said...if you use front camber bolts then get 3mm wheel spacers as well.

If I had to do it all over again...I'd go with Pro-Kit and a set of wheels with a good offset. Save the extra money that you would have to spend otherwise on rear LCA's, Spacers, camber bolts, rear LCA's installation.....that's all wasted money just so that you can have a lower but harsher ride.

Go with Pro-Kit, Good wheels and tires, and maybe camber bolts w/ 3mm spacer. Get all that installed and you're good to go! Probably only need about $600 for total cost.
