Here's something I'm working on.

1" x .049 4130 tube with .120" end plates. Abound 5lbs. pulsed TIG welded. Doesn't get much more solid than that and it clears all the factory components. Can be mounted over or threaded under the upper AC line.

Still not complete yet. Will add a couple of ounces with some 'accessories' once complete. The functionality of the 'accessories' will be worth the extra weight, I will guarantee that. Let me know what you guys think.

Doable... if you don't mind the use of epoxy and self tapping screws.

It seems like you should be making use of that third bolt like a full strut tower brace if you're going to cross the middle like that. Mild steel or cromoly?

The reason I did not tie in the strut mounting bolts was because it would have minimal increase in stiffness over the current design but it would increase the weight and complexity of the assembly by a good amount. The mounting plates are .120" thick. Probably a bit thicker than required. I could tie in more points and even use stronger/thicker material, but the benefits over the current design is minimal if any and it would add too much weight and defeat the purpose of using this stronger material.

4130 = Chromoly

arn't there cad programs where you could simulate whatever design for stress points and materials use

no offence, OP, but if you're gonna use MS paint to "design" a component meant to be ridgid and light, you're not gonna get very far in terms of efficiency.

plus, as was stated, plenty of people have made really nice and well thought out pieces already.

no offense taken.... wasnt using it to design... was using it to show ideas of a design. im not building this... someone else is building it for me. im just gonna have it made a bit thicker and solid.
