Smart key, push button start, climate control and heated seats are all things you will dearly miss if you ever have to do without them in the future. Those alone already add a 2000 $ value to your ownership experience imo. The spoiler and the leather/alcantara are a nice bonus. And like Hanzo said it will make your car a lot more attractive against any FRS come time to sell it.

Comes down to whether you think it is worth the added value.

For me, I passed.

Auto climate control: I personally hate it. While aesthetically it looks far better than the normal controls, temperature is subjective. I have no idea what a number means, if I want it hotter I turn the knob towards red. Cooler, towards blue. Plus I'd rather explicitly control when I am pulling heat from the engine and when the a/c starts and stops. Most auto climate control systems I've been exposed to I feel like they end up doing something I don't like and I have to spend time overriding it's decision on controls that are usually less intuitive. Still, no denying how ugly those standard controls are, man dey ugly. I'm gonna have to do something about that.

Spoiler: I like the look without the spoiler.

Fogs: Given the low seating position I doubt fogs will be that useful. Plus the lower grills look really cool without them IMO.

Push button start: The idea of hopping in the car and before your ass has fully dug into the seat you can hit a button and the engine starts right up is cool, until you realize you still have to push in the clutch anyway. Might as well use a key.
Keyless entry on the other hand is kinda neat, I like the fact you don't have to mess with your keys just to get in and start the car. They are already literally attached to my hip just so I don't lose them.

Heated seats: My first car had these, which were almost a requirement since the engine took 8 years to warm up. Not gonna lie they are nice on those cold winter mornings.

Leather: I wasn't that woo'ed. Looks decent but it really just ends up being more leather trim that actual leather seats, and I don't prefer leather anyway in a sporty car. A plainer cloth is fine to me, I almost wonder if I should somehow dye the gray fabric on the premium to black.

So for me it basically would come down to $2000 for heated seats and stuff I don't really want. Another person might get lots of added value however.

The limited edition is a good value objectively speaking. You get a ton of features for the money. But whether it's a good value subjectively (for you), only you can decide.

I chose the Limited mainly for the heated seats and the upgraded HVAC controls. I don't really care for the rest of the features, but they're nice to have. Plus, like others said it'll help with resale later on.

Don't both the Premium and Limited have navigation?

I prefer simple cars without a lot of gizmos so I got a premium. It also seems like a better deal when you compare it against other cars. There aren't many cars that you can get with nav and HIDs for $26k, but there a lot you can get for 28k. I don't blame anyone for choosing limited though, the interior does look nicer so if I had more money I'd probably go for it. HIDs are the only thing I really want out of all these options, if the FR-S had HIDs I'd probably get the Scion.

Personally although HIDs and navigation are nice, I wouldn't pay extra for those two features alone. The navigation maps will be outdated soon enough, and map updates will not be cost-effective. If I were deciding between the Scion FR-S and BRZ Premium I would have a hard time; what would probably sway me in the end is the fact that I don't want to drive a Scion. The BRZ Limited, on the other hand, offers the main feature that I do want, an automatic climate control system. Toyota's standard HVAC just plain sucks, and I've been happy with their climate control system in all the other Toyotas I've driven.

I'm also really looking forward to never having to take the key out of my pocket. Sure, it's not that difficult to do so, but it's an added level of convenience to be able to simply grab the door handle, or push a button to start the car.

Also, from my experience with other Toyotas, I've always been able to turn off the A/C and still have the climate control system automatically regulate the fan speed. I plan on using the system that way most of the time to increase fuel economy.

To be honest I'd rather not pay for heated seats as I don't need them, but the Leather/Alcantara seats look nice. The spoiler and fog lights are a bonus that I'd probably pay for anyway; they finish off an already nice-looking car.

As with all of my cars, the clutch interlock will be disabled. I start my cars from outside a lot after maintenance, especially when they are on the lift since it's more of a PITA to get in it then.

Full leather would have made me consider the premium. The alcantara is the part I want, the leather trim I'd rather not have, but it's just the bolsters so I'm ignoring that part

To further what this guy said, I have a 2009 WRX currently and I have auto climate control as well on it. You can turn off the AC as he stated and still have the fans regulating.

So there's first hand experience from both manufacturers that you can turn it off. I highly doubt that they would just eliminate that function from this car.

It will cost you $1.11CAD per day to finance the extra $2,000 on a 60 month term. If $1.11/day is worth it for the heated leather/alcantara seats, heated mirrors, keyless access, dual zone auto climate control, fog lights and rear spoiler, then go for it! If you can save that $1.11/day for something that will give you more enjoyment, then don't. You guys in southern North America probably don't need/want heated seats or exterior mirrors, but up in northern North America, it's a very nice thing to have if the car is to be driven in the winter time.

Plus I look at it this way: to get those same features in an Audi A4 (comparing apples to oranges, but still), I'd have to spend:

Premium Plus package (xenon headlights with LED DRL's, Bluetooth, Homelink, iPod/aux cable, heated front seats, heated and auto-dimming exterior mirrors, three zone climate control, memory function for driver seat): $4,300
Advanced key: $550

So for $2,000 for all those features, it really seems more than reasonable!

It's probably just an element in the cushion and not the lumbar. I'd kill for a heating element in the lumbar though...
