My impression is that some people think that there is only one optimum spring rate. I am suggesting that springs rates, like everything else, are a compromise. The front/rear ratio comes down to driver preference. Different drivers steer differently. If one is driving a 600 hp monster with heaps of aero then the spring rate requirements are different from a track day junkie running n/a.

The off the shelf rate spring rates for the Reds have changed over time so go figure.

Agree. My statement was about the poster above selecting springs to try and retain the "factory balance" of the car. It doesn't work like that. It's as pointless as the discussion on heights above with no mention of roll centres or geometry changes. I know enough to know I don't know enough, so I won't make things up to sound like I know what I'm taking about.

There is no optimum setup. But generally at our tracks in QLD where all the testing is done, they are currently setup very very well. As I said thats why josh springs and damps to suit

Looks like the Australian Toyota 86 Racing Series are spec'ed with MCA reds 6kg/5kg on Dunlop Direzza 225/40R18 DUNLOP DZ2 tires.

You sure on the spring rates? From memory they're running the same 6/7kg springs like Josh runs on all our cars. I could be wrong though. They are running normal Reds with King? I think springs for a sponsorship perspective for the series. Good to see people who have been testing with us in our Sprint meets competing. It's a pretty good package overall. The cool thing is that anyone who wants can buy every part for these cars. So it's not some special Race parts that are out of reach. It'll be great to see when they get onto some of the larger tracks like Bathurst.

Yup, 5kg rear spring 6kg front King springs along with a MCA front sway bar with the MCA red damper set according to the technical sheet I linked. All the rest of the suspension is stock and cannot be altered. Maximum camber allowed is -4.0* in the front and -2.2 in the rear.

Looking at the videos from the first race weekend, it looked like a clusterfuck lol

Yep you are correct. Just found it. A little softer than full track spec we use but then again they aren't using a Semi like we mostly do. It is a little chaotic. But with 36 or something cars on such a small track, thats to be expected. Bathurst should be a bit better since its such a long track. all of the others are longer too. Winton is a little bit of an oldschool track these days.

The width of the track didnt look very wide, yet they were running 3 wide pretty often. lol looked like bumper cars out there.

there is no MCA sway bar, i think what you read is the sway bar link, it just prevents any rubbing when lowered.

I think you're right. Description of part is "Link front anti-roll bar"
