You guys are missing the main point...a good tune AND internals is what I was saying...

A good tune is always a necessity for a car boosted by the aftermarket, it's the apparent necessity of internals (even at low boost levels) that seems troubling for the 2013 motors.

I know exactly what you are saying, but a good tune is a necessity over anything else. Despite this thread there are many stock motor boosted twins out there that are fine. Hit or miss really. I still think the sample is still too small.

I ran an innovate kit on my brz for close to 15k miles, and now have made the transition to a turbo kit. Will be putting more power down, so i'm crossing my fingers I don't get added to the list. But I already accepted the fact that this motor may one day blow up regardless and am prepared for it in case it does happen. I probably wouldn't have even touched my setup if my car stopped being my daily and I had to drive it everyday.

Tell a small block Chevy engine builder you're running 12.5:1 + 8psi on pump gas and he either; A. won't believe you, or B. have a heart attack.

Ah man, I'm really sorry to see this! Let me know if there's anything you need from us!

We keep the standard rev limit on our base maps and tunes, even Ross's race car sticks to the standard rev limit since he is running a standard block and heads.

I seriously doubt any of these engines that have popped are the result of a bad tune from any of the reputable tuners around. They pop for any number of reasons more then likely related to stress... Either too much boost, too much engine stress from tracking, mechanical errrors or a whole myriad of other possible issues. The tune is only one factor in boosting a car. Even a near perfect tune isn't going to save you if your rods are weaken due beating on the car or running ridiculous amount of boost. The reality is that these engine were not designed for boost and getting them to run boost while possible is just opening it to risk. Its a risk i've chosen to take... I'm running AVO kit, 8psi, E85 on stock fuel system... With a tune from Delicious Tuning and a previous tune from Drift Office. I don't track and this is my daily. I know the risk, can you boost it? Yes, can it be reliable? somewhat... Its just risky and up to you to accept that risk.

Just my little input: stock motor, kraftwerks c38 kit, 550cc injectors, tuned
by Moto-East. Around 3k miles put on and still running damn strong.
No issues or CEL, planning on running the smaller 70mm pulley soon.

I'd be interested to poll just how far the boosted set of motors have run for ?

as OEM's pass off an engine spec typically with a mix of looong dyno tests like 100hours at full throttle and full rev's or 400 hours mixed running

or the thermal shock test where the engine is chilled down to -10 deg C and then started, idlied for 30 seconds tehn given full power and revs for a minute then stopped and chilled down again - and this process repeated for 100 times

so to say that my motor has done 3000 miles on the road ( where you are rarely on full load for more than 10 seconds at a time) and then say these motors are fine boosted well...........

time will tell gentlemen, its too early to say otherwiseas I don't think anyone has put big miles on a boosted motor yet
