I have a rather large/effective oil cooler, so in 85F weather, I only see a max of about 215F oil temps on the track. For now, I'm using Motul 300V 0w20, and my oil pressure is staying in the 50-60 psi range on track. For the summer months, I'll be switching to 5w30.

Just make sure you don't run e85 with that 300V

The Motul rep said why not. It is blended differently I guess. You are fine with regular Motul just not the V series.

We're going to need some elaboration, because 300v is marketed specifically as a fuel to use with E85 applications by their vendors.

E85 will contaminate oil much faster than pump gas and reduce the effectiveness of detergents. Regardless of the oil you choose, you should be prepared to drop your intervals to 2k miles.

There is no definite "yes" or "no" from Motul.

From my personal observations, 300V on E85 with a daily driven car is okay, as long as pump gas is reguarly also used (detergents), and the oil gets hot enough (to evaporate off the fuel/ethanol).

If E85 is in the engine oil, and the car is allowed to sit for an extended period of time, the alcohol attacks the esters of 300V, causing the oil to get "milky", but, to my knowledge at this time, does not compromise the oil's ability to lubricate the engine.

That being said, anyone running E85 should be on a shorter oil change interval anyways.

Nice windows. You want to share the details when it happened:

- Turbo Kit
- Tuner and fuel used
- Details surrounding when it blew up

Bad tune and I wasn't even in boost when it blew. My boost was set at 8 psi on e85 which was completely safe from what my tuner told me.

ok, so I've been reading your posts because i am quite interested in what happened. if it isn't to much to ask, may you post a timeline of when everything happened? the oil in the coolant, the shot block, the engine swap, and everything else that happened to your car? in order preferably. thanks

Here's mine. Running an AVO kit at 8psi at the track (TWS here in Texas). Best guess is that I over revved it or the valves floated a bit, and had valve to piston contact. Looks like the piston then shattered and the rod then bet the everliving crap out of what remained.

No problem. It'll take me a minute so I can go through everything.
