High of 0 tomorrow evening.
Where is a good bar with a window view of a parking lot to have a "hot chocolate"?

Hey Andre I was wondering if you have an opening tomorrow to flip some tires on the rims. Looking to get my truck tires flipped around, I could do anytime after 12

But on a serious note, come by the shop and I can show you some options.

I recommend using the stock wheels for winters, and it gives you a reason to upgrade to nicer/bigger summer wheels. No to all-seasons though.

Yep, no problem. Anytime in afternoon works for me. Got stuff booked but can squeeze you in. Are they on the car or loose?

Hey guys. I've been struggling with a decision for the last week or so, and it's really troubling me. I've been considering dealing the FR-S on a 4X4 Tacoma. The first winter was pretty bad, and last winter was effing brutal. We made it through unscathed, but I can't help thinking my luck won't hold up forever. I live in the country, 40 minutes from town, and my wife worries herself sick every time I'm coming home from work in a snowstorm (which last year seemed like once a week or so). The FR-S has been an absolute blast...no car that is this much fun should be this good on fuel. I've had it since June 2012, and already have 62,000 Kms on the clock. A dealer in 'sauga has offered me $18,000 trade-in, which considering the time of year and Kms on the car, I find reasonably acceptable...IF they'll move a bit on the asking price of the Tacoma.

Anyhoo, if I decide to do this, I will have some FR-s goodies to sell, and will offer them to the Ottawa group first. I will return the car to stock for the trade-in and sell the TRD cai, Nameless over/down pipe combo (catted and resonated), modified TRD cat-back exhaust (will provide pics and details when the time comes), 10-series/GT86 frameless rearview mirror, Weathertech floor liners, and winter wheels/tires (16" steelies with Bridgestone Blizzaks).

Oh, and for anyone who still thinks the FR-S is slow...try test driving a 4cyl, 4wheel drive, extended cab Toyota Tacoma. You'll come off that test drive with a whole new appreciation for the way the FR-S moves. Part of me really hopes the truck is already sold by the time I make up my mind.

@Slick lol at the spinners.

Sports cars suck in the snow. Trucks suck the rest of the time.

Solution: have both. An old beater truck for the 6-8 times you'll need one per year.

@roddy - no chance of keeping the FRS and getting a cheap 4x4?

I've considered that option at length, but anything decent is $$ more than I want to spend, and will go through fuel like a fish through water. Cheap, 4X4, and good on fuel is a hard combo to come across. Besides that, I would then have 2 summer cars sitting in the garage all winter (1st world problems, eh?).

That sounds like winning to me. understand your dilemma Chris but hope you stay with the FRS. Always enjoy hanging with you. The last 2 winters have been brutal for sure, can't help but think it's going to go in the other direction for a while.

Actually (in my opinion) this particular sports car is really good in the snow. I bought the car as a daily driver, and I'm impressed with it's winter capabilities.
The problem is my particular location, and the depth of snow (this used to be the norm here 20 years ago but we haven't seen a winter here like the last 2 since 2001). I live on that peninsula that juts out into the Eastern end of Lake Ontario and for the last couple of years the lake effect snows have been crazy. When the squalls blow through (often with little to no warning), some times they dump up to 30cm of snow per hour. It's something you'd have to see to believe. Makes for great snowmobiling though.

That does make sense and I've considered that option as well...my neighbor sells cheap stuff, and has a number of early to late '90s 4X4 trucks in the $5k or less range. Full size, high mileage, extended cab trucks, a Navigator, an Escalade, etc. I just can't do it...buy something that gets 10-12mpg to drive my lonely ass 40 minutes each way to work and back. If I keep the FR-S, and get a beater, I would stop winter driving the Scion entirely. Maybe I should rethink the beater idea and look more closely at stuff like imprezas or Honda CRVs. Damn. I really don't need 3 vehicles...
