dunno what the rest of you lot are on aboot...

Anyways.. considering selling my winter beater this summer (09 yaris 2dr hb 5spd with works wheels, new summers, winter tires on steelies, AC, cruise, tokicos, teins, rr sway bar, indash gps, touchscreen, dvd anyone?) for the cash and driving the brz all yr round this year..

I just don't know if I could stand the abuse the finish will get.. nvm its lowered as well. I can just imagine that 5am commute where I pull out of the garage and face that pile of ice chunks at the end of the driveway the plow has left, that I know will make a mess of the front end...

Can't make up my mind...

Apparently some people are even willing to argue with a dead racing driver.....

And he was even good enough to die of old age!

No misquotes. Nothing taken out of context.

Yet still there are those who know better.

This thread has been a fun turkey shoot, you just know who I'm talking about.

Thanks all.

And you're arguing against what people currently involved in racing are saying.

How about looking at what people who race these cars say about them instead of someone that died long before the car was dreamed up.

I'm gonna play devils advocate here and say he never won any races, maybe he was oversteering to much to go faster. Maybe he should have written a book on rowing.

Secretly, Paul Frere always wanted to win the Tour de France but was allergic to steroids.

Oh and he died in 2008, great loss but given the gestation period of the GT86 (the ark was launched about the time the BRZ was conceived ) I think he was alive when the BRZ was designed.

I love driving this car in the winter!

My CRV was a tank in the winter. Floaty ride, big inner tubes for winter tires, AWD, high ride height..I was invincible! As a matter of fact, I looked forward to next snow fall! In July of last year, I decided to trade in my "mini bus" for this sweet little number called an FRS. I had 5 months of driving bliss, before the perils of a Canadian winter. Sure, I have 200lbs of bagged sand in my trunk surrounding the 12" subwoofer. The arse end of the car feels like its dragging on the ground...Do I still fishtail? ABSOLUTELY! But it's more controlled and far less tail happy without the sand. I have a set of Hankook iPike RS winter tires hugging the stock rims; amazing tire, but it looks like crap...but the car NEEDS winter tires!.... The stock tires are deplorable in the winter.....Look, I have a mini sandbox in my trunk, winter tires, a retractable shovel(theres a guarantee I will get stuck in deep snow) in what little space I have left in my trunk ...... but thats a Canadian winter in a light, ground scraping rear wheel drive sports car. I'm ready....I'm ready for the horrible white stuff pelting down on the ground as I commute to work and around town.
I read posts stating the car sucks in the winter; well, No s--t! You knew that when the dealer handed you the keys to your new FRS and visions of summer track days danced in your head.....then the snow came....be smart, winterize your car. As painful as it is to put snow tires on this wonderful car and fill the trunk with sand, you have too! ......and it may surprise you just how well it manages the havoc winter can throw at you

Sleep 18" Pilot Super Sports...Rest for the winter..Your alarm is set for March

I'm running the same tires. They are pretty good. I agree totally with your take on this. "Arse" definitely an word I hear seldom out west here. Sounds like home.

Compared to the pickup truck that I drove through Edmonton winters the BRZ is a breeze. Just as a note I have always owned and driven RWD's without nannies.
