His car has work done to it. 8k sounds a bit high for a stock motor. Had it been a bone stock car I'd flip out as well, but I understanding his pricing. The car is basically done unless you're going to swap it for a 20v motor. The paint job alone is 3k, the stock car is like 2k (the MOST I'd pay for an AE86 stock if it was pristine), and then all of the parts/work is like another 4-5k. Those coil overs alone are like 2-2.5k. Looks like it has Sprinter taillights, USDM rear bumper. There's a lot of work put into that car.

However check out this one from San Francisco. It's 6k:

I've thought about saying forget the FRS and just buying that car.

Roll cage, sir. Thanks for posting that! I hate watching crashes though; all those poor cars! I watched Sebastian Loeb win his 70th race in Argentina last night (I'm a little late, I know). I think Mikko Hirvonen could have easily beaten Seb but I have a feeling Citroën told him to let his teammate win.

Dayumm!! That's a nice AE86. I'd be more than tempted if the FR-S wasn't going to be a daily driver. Save yourself about $20k and go have fun!

That car will be a hassle in CA due to needing to get it smogged. CA has stupid rules about smogging cars. That car would fail hardcore. They also have SUPER strict motor swap rules. The motor has to come from a newer model car that's sold in CA, and include all factory smogging equipment. They impound 240's that are running anything other than KAs. I was gonna drop an SR or RB until I did some research on it.

To me, it's not worth the hassle since I don't have a house with a garage nor a trailer to cart the thing around. I'd rather just get the FRS and be able to drive it wherever, and whenever I want. Otherwise I'd be all over that car. I miss my AE86. Right before I moved to CA I had picked up this: http://www.silkroad-usa.com/pages/ae86parts/header.htm

I was gonna couple that with a DD exhaust. I wish I could have finished that car.

Oh right, I forgot you're in the People's Republic of California. Even the People's Republic of Massachusetts excuses any cars older than 1996 from getting smogged; that's just rough, man.
