I have this same engine swapped into my MR2, and it does sound amazing!

For any and all information you could ever want on the AE86 and all it's old-school Toyota cousins, head over to www.club4ag.com and get yourself registered! It's a great community and you can learn a lot!
how do you like the 20v mr2? ive been out of the sports car game for a while and i miss my corolla more than the the miata despite the miata being a much better car. i just dont want to pay that drift tax on those things nowadays. aw11s seem dope and the swap seems more straight forward

back on topic, i really dont see what the frs and corolla have in common

Man I miss the crap out of my old AE86. I keep toying with the idea of getting another, but they are a money pit at this point. Everyone wants 5k for an SR5.

There were subtitles too. But it's nice to be able to watch the cars maneuver about without looking away to read the whole time.

It's great! The MR2 is really anemic with the 112hp 4AGE engine. The 20v 4AGE is a great match at 165hp. Not quite a 10:1 power-to-weight ratio (AW11 MR2 weighs between 2350-2500lbs), but enough power to have fun with. MR2's can be had for cheap, and there are still some nice clean stock cars running around, unlike trying to find a decent Corolla for less than $5k. The swap is very straightforward. I paid someone to do the wiring and for a custom exhaust b-pipe, and I had to fab up coolant hoses and a couple of brackets for the coil and igniter, but everything else bolted up for the most part. It's a whole different animal now! Really fun.

And back on topic yes, I do see what they have in common: small, light, fun, rear-wheel-drive and affordable. Just like the original!

My old 1987 AE86 coupe with a Trueno Kouki bumper and Zenki lip.
Bought it for $4500, cleaned it up and sold it for $6500. Should
have kept it.

I don't give a sh*t about drifting, for me this car means winning races and rallies. In here where i live, AE86 is very popular rally car. It has won basically everything. Sad part is that every AE86 is modified to rally, so you can't find good one anymore..

Oh to be in Finland, where they care about real racing, not drifting and NASCAR... Maybe someday.

Here's some cool rally AE86's for everyone to drool over:

You should watch this video:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7999vgGfpOw"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7999vgGfpOw[/ame]

There should be at least few AE86 and lot's of old starlets (wicked machines) and escorts. All of those are crazy, small displacement NA beasts

Nope, safety roll-gages (or something like that, i'm not sure what is right word in english) make these cars quite safe to crash. And most of the time they spin freely... BTW, last AE86 crash in the end of the video was quite hilarious
