To the pansies on this forum, how many aids to you think the ae86 had? You know, the car this one is supposed to be in honour of?

And that had a live axle!

Such soft, much wuss, so disappoint. Ive linked this thread to other enthusiast / drifting based forums for their entertainment.

Yes you're correct. I should have said "than". I feel that even pedal dance leaves the door open for the ecu. Disabling the abs by pulling the fuse, prevents it from doing anything, even if it wanted to.

They were we pretty wild car, especially as first turbo car. 1300cc turbo, about 130hp. When it came on boost it would instantly spin 1st and 2nd. REALLY suffered from torque steer. Would happily pull you into the next lane if you weren't used to it.

I crashed mine driving around the hills, came round corner fast, got on gas early, hit loose surface and boost at same time, front wheels spun, power under steer straight off the road. Rolled it 2 or 3 times. Complete loss.

Diss7, I agree with you all the way!

I've never had so many electronic nannies to "assist" in my driving. I even watched a video of Kieichi Tsutchyia (sp?) saying that with all the nannies off, the abs still comes on.

Coming from my mr2 that's raw (like a turbo Silvia mentioned), I'm not used to all the nannies and like the old school of free control.

TRAC is something I highly recommend for daily driving (especially in snow), but for all out racing, I prefer the rawness of no abs or trac like my mr2.

Ahh I forgot to mention in my car history in the previous page that I had a sw20 turbo as well.

You are a brave man sir, driving one in the snow! I never really liked the way mine would hang out.

I've thought many-a-time about getting another and going full track car on it. They're really under appreciated here, because it's not an accepted drift car. Could pick up one up for $1500 here. They're worthless now. I'd like to put a black top beams in one and use it for class/club racing. Would do fucking well I reckon. Would pants a gt86 if done right, for a lot less money.

Diss7, I agree with you 100%. I also found the FR-S feels noticeably different with the ABS fuse pulled when pushing the car at its limit.

I pull it every time before hitting the track or am doing any type of spirited driving. I primarily drift and have been doing so for the past 8+ years so I hope to think that I have somewhat of an idea of what I am doing behind the wheel. The biggest thing I noticed with the fuse pulled is under certain conditions, with just holding the TRACTION OFF button is that on certain corners or conditions, I swear I could feel the TC assisting, and I swear I would loose some response in my gas pedal. With the fuse pulled, I didn't feel this. It could just be in my head but thats what I've noticed. Regardless, my FR-S still needs a lot of fine tuning to get it to drift how I would like.

Random post, but wanted to put up a pic of another car that never came to the US that I really want. Audi rs2. Porsche helped design it, I think it has porsche brakes, and then I think cosworth did the engine. Pretty sure they were faster 0-30 than F1 cars of the day. But for us Americans, prob too dangerous b/c not enough AIDS.

I'll tell you this, I've never owned a car that I drove sideways so much in the snow! The FRS is wayyyyy too easy to provoke in the snow. I highly suggest keeping TRAC on for DD duties and turn everything off including abs for racing. Abs is merely there for your inability to not knowing what your hard braking threshold is. TRAC for those that have never provoked a rwd before and will keep them safe. Both are great and I like them quite a bit.

But for the rawest experience, everything completely off including abs is the best. I even like no power steering depending on the car

I lost brain cells reading all the "omg you disabled ABS, you're destined to kill yourself or someone else" post.

My first car is from the 80's and it doesn't have any nannies and every car I owned and this is my 5th car did not have any nannies. I believe when you rely on a computer to control the car for you, you become lazy and expect the car to correct yourself. You need to know how to control your car and not expect the car to control you. My first car also did not have airbags.

I'm guessing no one on here has ever rode a motorcycle before? Most motorcycles don't have aids, and yet no one is complaining about the people who ride those. Seriously, some of you guys crack me up.

Edit: Because people can't read.

Seeing the responses to the original idea of the thread and ignoring the safety nanny/anti-nanny patrol riff raff, I'm more than tempted to try this at the next track day.

Coming from 240/260/280z's, I'm used to having absolutely nothing but a brake booster assisting me.
