Yeah that's a brilliant idea! Let's put a kid in THIS car without any driver aids and turn em lose. People are crashing this car at a pretty high rate now with or without the aids.

Do you know how to read? What I mean is, do you just look at the words and not take any of it in?

I specifically said in the OP that this wasn't for everybody. I said that if you had driven a certain type of car before and/or were confident in your own driving ability, that there were gains to be found from disabling the aids.

"Don't turn off the aids, there's 150 uncontrollable horses under that right foot"

Note the sarcasm.

Which others? Please be as specific as possible. I thought pedal dance shut off everything except anti-lock brakes.

TBH I'm not sure. I'm only going off what others have said. "Ice mode" is one I have read that can still kick in. Others running pedal dance have experienced it.

Me, I'd rather lose them all, then still leave the door open (so to speak) for the ecu to chime in.

All the more power to OP. If you are under control of the vehicle, you don't need ABS. As long as you know the risks you're fine. There are a lot of cars without ABS from factory. Lotus, viper, porsche, etc.

If you pedal dance and pitch the car into a flat spin the foot brake behaves very oddly. Try pushing foot brake and e-brake at same time, more fun stuff!

Find a little concrete spot and try it yourself. I've spun so many times with pedal dance on, kinda get used to having to throw your foot through the floor, and it feel like there are no brakes going on and then all of a sudden, you get weird max ABS.

I have a feeling Ice Mode, Auto LSD, and potentially some emergency brake pre-load systems are modified, but not fully disabled. Mostly good though!

Really really really hate the fact that "driver aids" are now mandatory. There's something to be said for letting the human have control of the car, at least in the few cases where the human has experience at the limits and knows what he is doing.

I have ABS on the RX-7, which is fine. Disabled on the S2000 due to damaged sensor, which is also fine. Wife drives a 5-speed Mazda3 with no ABS. No problems for her in the dry, wet, snow, ice, etc.

Personally I do not like the prospects of eventually having to buy a car that has other aids...

To all of those who can't imaging driving without them, don't worry, in time we'll all be forced to be transported around in cars that we don't have any direct control over, because "safety"...

I'm glad that you are getting the performance you desired.

For those who live in the U.S. please consider this before making such modification. Insurance companies cover your vehicle based on the equipment it came with. So just like you should inform them of add-ons (this way they are also covered in a claim) they can turn around and not cover your vehicle because it didn't have a safety feature active like the manufacturer designed. This also increases your liability if you are found guilty in a vehicular accident. You are also opening your self to a direct lawsuit by any party affected by your actions. If your insurance company does not cover/protect you because of the above mentioned, they will also notify the person making a claim the reason why you are not covered (in Oregon, this reporting is required by law when there's personal injury or vehicle damage above certain amount). That may lead into criminal charges if there was any personal injury. Trust me, a young and eager DA would love to get that kind of easy case.

That's on the road. On the track, your insurance will possibly not cover you anyway, so go for it!

That's all I'll share on this topic.

Lmao... I had a mustang with 300hp and 320tq and did burnouts for shits and giggles when I was 17... never crashed it in the 2 years I drove it... it surprises me that people say this car is lethal with 200 horses and a "massive" 150 ftlb of tq...

Valid information for US residents.

In NZ things are less "police state" For a start, you can't be sued. If in an at fault accident, the other party is covered regardless, as their cover will include accidents from uninsured drivers.

If your insurance company refused cover based on the modification, they would have to prove that the modification directly caused the loss. Not by just saying it did, but by conclusive proof that for example, if abs were engaged it definitely would have not resulted in an accident. They would have to show that speeds/stopping distances. It would be a heartache for them. But I guess it's still a risk.

Anyway, this isn't so much about the legalities of doing this (as then we should have the same discussion in every other modification thread)

I think you underestimate yourself.

I think many people underestimate themselves when it comes to these things. And I think they overestimate what these systems do. It is unfortunate.

In your last sentence did you mean to say "then" or "than?" Just want to make sure I understand clearly.

Personally I want to know exactly what this changes and how, because I want no surprises. These systems being some of the surprises...
