By all accounts the Fiesta ST is a fun car for the money and I could see why someone would buy one. That said, RWD and lightweight is a timeless formula for fun, and with good reason. The BRZ is also just practical enough to be daily driven. I would go for the BRZ if you can.

The ford fiesta is an economy car that they slapped a turbo in it and called it a sports car.
The FR-S/BRZ is a sports car. Built from the ground up for handling and rear drive fun. These cars are from different planets. The only thing in common is the price. Which one are you going to get excited about driving every time you walk up to it? Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk

I think it looks a bit endearing personally. Still, I wish Toyobaru would give us an unhinged hatchback version of the 86 (no, not the stupid crosssport thing, that is not what I want) or BMW would bring the M135 over here to us peasants. Then we wouldn't have to have this "practical or RWD" debate at all. Of course, what the world really needs a RWD Ferrari FF. Yes.

The Fiesta looks hideous. Wouldn't be caught dead in that thing.

The only yanking I saw was to correct the two cars' innate handling traits and they both have there problems. The two cars demand different driving styles to be driven fast and I am not sure we was good at both.

What's even more funny is that you called him ignorant yet his statement was 100% accurate and American car companies have been doing that for years, putting turbos on otherwise mundane economy cars then calling them sports cars(Cobalt, Neon), also the fact that the resident forum troll liked your post automatically voided it's credibility. |

I must also point out that with the current Ford incentives, the Fiesta - which starts in Canada for the same base price as the FR-S, still comes in at an-out-the-door-price that is several thousand cheaper than the FRS.
Price alone, puts the Fiesta ST ahead of the FRS but like previous posters have mentioned, what is important to you? The feels behind the wheel or the practicality coupled with fun? Fiesta wins if practicality is of utmost importance. FRS/BRZ wins if behind-the-wheel-feel is number one. Pick your poison. Both of them are great vehicles but I would prefer the BRZ simply because I already have a practical hatchback for a DD.

The backseats in the Fiesta are only marginally larger than the BRZ's. The Fiesta ST is rated to get about the same MPG too. If you compare it to the AT BRZ anyway. But the extra doors and hatch definitely improve the practicality as does the added height. I question why people bother to buy base Fiestas in the sedan bodystyle except for the simple factor of lower cost.

You might as well claim (erroneously) that the BRZ is nothing but a RWD Legacy. |

Not true?
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...t-drive-review Coles Notes version: - ST suspension layout has different geometry for a "sportier" feel - Thicker front anti roll bar on ST + Torque Vectoring - ST has a quicker ratio on steering (14.6:1 on normal Fiesta to 13.6:1 on ST) - ST rear twist beam is completely different (own part number) - Spring rates are different - Rear discs instead of drums

I know this is vs but I would not consider a hatchback vs the frs. I personally chose the frs coming from an sti and an evo x gsr and mr because I wanted a red sports car that got good mpg.
The kid/pet/fam car is the wife's suv. I have no need for any more than what the frs has to offer. |
