Ive had great luck with Irish Spring soap. A old boss told me this trick. Take a bar of Irish Spring soap and make shaving out of it, put those shaving in a sock. Put that sock inside the car and mice wont go near it. When I store my car for the winter I do this. One under the dash, in the trunk, and one right on the motor.

I have no idea why this works but we used to store cars in old barns with out a single problem from mice. Also in the spring your car smells nice.
