I noticed in the first post you said everything is very linear, but in another post you said you can definitely feel it above 6k rpms.

I came from a mazdaspeed 3 w/ minor upgrades and an ecu and obv turbo and sc feeling are different, but the stock engine has really left me a little lacking.

I'm in Cali and this is my daily driver in a police infested zone so I'd like to keep things on the up in up...
You can and your passenger can too.

Nope.

Take the stock powerband, eliminate the torque dip, and then amplify it by 40%. That's how it feels.

It won't feel the way your MS3 did when the turbo spooled; there's no surge of torque. It's more like you're in a car with a small V6 (think the current generation of 3.x liter V6). It's just a smooth increase in power, that continues to build until you have to shift to the next gear.

If you're local to us, feel free to come catch a ride.

@CSG Mike

Next photo session, could you please show us some more detail on the drive side of the Rotrex? It's clear the friction surface has to be the reverse side of the belt (for correct rotation). I'd like to see Jackson's solution.

Edit: Q's partially answered by JR installation manual. Still in for pics.

THE OLD MAN TEST:

Last night I gave my 74 yr old dad a ride in my JR supercharged BRZ. The car is lowered on swift springs, has a perrin exhaust, and 17x9 wheels with nitto NT-05 tires. I've owned a GReddy turbo'd civic Si, and still have a Vortech SC'd S2K that he's been tortured with in the past. We drove around for 10 minutes. Mostly under partial throttle, normal driving in light city traffic. With one hard-launch onto a freeway on-ramp that I kept the pedal down until we hit 110 in 4th. I chirped the tires hitting 2nd and third, so I wasn't holding back.

The old man was impressed with the power. More importantly for me, he said this was the first time I didn't ruin a car with all the aftermarket crap I did to it. He was supremely impressed with how docile and smooth the car was in traffic, the lack of power surging, the smoothness of the idle, the quiet, and how the driveability of the car was actually better than stock.

After a lifetime of head shaking and disapproving scowls about my aftermarket FI decisions, dad climbed out of the BRZ with a big a grin and a compliment: "Good job!"

Thank you Jackson Racing :-)

Nothing more satisfying that the old man's approval. Great story, thanks for sharing.

My dad hated driving my younger brother's WRX after he did ST coils. "MY BACK ARRGGHHH!"

I didn't know you can use a stock tune, I read on their website that you needed to tune or you would have engine failure.

He's probably referring to the stock JR carb tune.

I understand you can't give details on the JR OC kit before it's released.
I used my perrin OC with the kit. Had to re-route and shorten the lines since the intercooler piping made it a tight squeeze for the cooler lines. I also moved the cooler forward about 1 inch to clear the intercooler. Only permanent modification I had to make was trimming about 3/8" of the plastic inside the front grille. I will try to post pics if you like.
