Did you guys decide on an oil cooler yet? And if so were there any fitment issues up front?

Very interested in the robispec radiator oil cooler combo.

We'll be testing something next weekend at 86CUP, and the guys that show up will get first crack at seeing the updated setup.

Results will be posted afterwards in our build thread.

I'm also in Irvine..

Been trying to go to one of the tues night Irvine meets for a few weeks, but something always comes up.

And I continue to be very happy with the daily driveability of this kit.

Realistic downside, though: My mileage has dropped from a pre-charger average of 26-27mpg to 22-24 mpg per tank.

Likely nature of beast with mpg though right?... More power I would be using it.

I've found it a bit difficult to keep out of it, but I did do a tank with extreme discipline to try to keep acceleration the same as pre-supercharger, and managed to get 29mpg that tank. The car did, however, have RS3's on it.

I was getting around 32 mpg with the stock primacies when the car was 100% stock.

I think the biggest challenge with MPG is that even at 25% gas, there is FAR more power available. In terms of output, at about 30% throttle, you already have the same manifold pressure as WOT stock, even at 2000 RPM.

I can post datalogs of traffic/street driving if you guys are interested.

It is important in my opinion. I wouldnt go FI if the mileage was going to be dramatically low. If I wanted a fuel burning station I would have get a different car. The good thing about this beauty is that it can achieve good mileage when driven carefully and still give you lots of fun when requested.

Especially with supercharger it's important to know how bad the fuel mileage gets.

Get a Prius if you want to milk out the gas mileage.

Not saying you should completely forget about the gas mileage when boosting your car, but come on man. Get real. If someone is willing to spend at least $6k on boosting a NA factory car, the negative impact on the gas mileage should be the last thing to be concerned about.

Sorry for derailing the topic. Done here.

My turbo miata got better mileage turbo than N/A, it was awesome like that... of course supercharger is different but nothing wrong with trying to keep the daily driveability of the car as much as possible off boost.

Mpg effects are absolutely a factor. I appreciate that this was brought up.

A large part of the appeal of this car to many people is that it makes for a great fun dd with low operating costs. Not everyone views the platform as a a race car.

A lot of those people are interested in more power. But don't necessarily want to get into taking a 10+% mpg hit on mindless slab miles.

Maybe a fi mpg thread?

Information is power. The more information we have the easier it will be to make a decision as to which kit to go with. If you don't think this information is relevant, just keep clicking. Else, I'll sick Orbital on your asses and he'll lay a level of burn that hasn't been seen since the fire department had to use a plasma cutter to get his mom out of her car after she ate her lunch.
