The way i see it there is going to be a race for companies/people to get out parts asap for the 86.

Most of them are going to be cosmetic and others claiming performance enhancement with real gains.
The usual things are to get rid of resonators , mushroom air filter, exhaust etc etc.
But for all that money really what is it going to get you ? A shift in the torque curve and a couple extra Hp .

The only real gain will be FI but which one and will it be supported ?
With other Toyota cars e.g the SW20 MR2 it was available as a Turbo so hey Toyota had to supply a beefed up gear box , axle and what not.

So IF Toyota does eventually release a FI obviously these parts would be available relatively cheap.
Who knows what this engine/gear box can handle ? Any one car to find out , i highly doubt.
The engine regardless is moulded as a N/A
To FI it all the necessary support gear will be required. Lower C/R ,Pistons, rods, head bolts, fuel , injectors,Intercooler ECU and the list goes on. If you think that is possible for $6,000 your kidding, try about $20,000.

So what i reckon we will see is a long time into the future before these being hotted up.

Now my 2 cents
this engine should be SC'ed as HKS has done so as to preserve the characteristics of a N/A engine. If you havent driven a Rotrexed car you wont know what i mean.
I have a Toyota Red Top Beams engine with a Rotrex and has the same power as the HKS car 400 Hp. Its a delight !

Then i highly doubt that this will ever be FI from the factory so there will be a lot of testing custom parts so as to handle the doubling of the power but i predict the sucess of the 86 will inspire another car from Toyota The Supra which then you will see FI

Yes and yes

A centrifugal charger is the only answer for this car to maintain the NA style power delivery with the least possible stress. People have be SC'ing the Subaru 4 cylinder engines now since 2008 with aftermarket kits up to 11psi on the stock internals. Plenty fun and no pain, this engine has some capacity for a low boost according to Subaru Engineers - as reported in Australian press article a couple of months ago

Sorry, but you will not need to spend $20k just to boost this car. You won't need pistons or rods to make a decent amount of power and stay stock. Most likely it will need a Meth kit to keep things in check, if staying stock with the motor.

Can you be sure ? Who will be the first to try. Someone will and once its established
watch all the aftermarket parts come out.

I highly doubt that they put the engineering into it to double the power ?

There is already a turbo kit being put together. I will post the link once I get to a computer.

One stock internals ? Well if it is it will be good proving ground if its documented.

However i believe it will will loose all its attractiveness with a Turbo

Somewhere else around here it was posted that the retail version of the HKS supercharger kit will preserve AC. It's predicted to bring 50-80hp on stock internals.

Turbo development being done. Highly doubt it will loose any attractiveness to anyone wanting to turn the car into a drift/track machine. If you don't find it attractive, then you just simply don't buy it.

There is nothing in the link yet but i will keep an eye on it.
12.5 and turbo. Like to see that . Gee i hope the waste gate works and it doesnt over boost
Its been done before, person buys car, wants more power. Adds a little psi. Then wants more and bang.
You cant cheat on the physics or whether the stock internals can handle the power.

50 -70 RWHP is great but the level wont last for long as human nature one will want more
