My first car was a 1996 Chevy Lumina, it was a turd.

Once that one developed an engine knock I was given a 1993 Mercury Cougar XR7. This car, now driven by my brother, is my second favorite I've owned. V6 with little power and RWD. It was nice.

Then I got a 2005 Subaru Outback XT. I had such a love hate relationship with this car. About 3 months after I bought it, it started throwing a CEL. Turned out it wasa burnt exhaust valve. So my dad and I pulled the engine, got it rebuilt and stuck it back in along with some other performance goodies. Then sensors kept failing until I traded it in on my BRZ.

Slowest: A clapped out 1962 VW Beetle bought well used, the most underpowered (36 hp), underbraked (drums suitable for a golf cart), uncomfortable (cabin heat dependent on engine speed, non-existent w/s defroster) but bog reliable car. I once hit 88 mph going down a mountain in France with the red oil pressure light blazing. I couldn't slow, the brakes faded long before that, so downshifted and prayed. That's when the red light came on as the engine began seizing, but it worked as I slowed enough for the brakes to recover.

Fastest: Bought new, a Supra TT Anniversary Edition M/T. 154 mph indicated, also the electronically limited speed I've read, when a rear tire puncture made things even more exciting. The car remained stable though, and thankfully it was a long straightaway in Montana where there was no maximum speed limit then (I'd heard) and easily coasted to a stop. Endless pull even over 9,000' mountain passes. I miss that car but the stupid spoiler straight out of Smokey and the Bandit convinced me to sell it. Sample pic of same color:

Impressions with the rx8? Looking to buy one as a daily but I was worried about the flooding.

Impressions of the dc5? I know they are different classes but looking for more of daily driven and comfort more than stats on paper.

Loved the power, int/ext styling, and handling but hated the shitty Rotary floods. I did everything I could for it to not flood(proper warm ups before shut offs, change plugs, etc) but the compression loss eventually took her soul.

I would stay away if you're looking for a DD. If you really want one, then the series II(2009-2012) RX-8 will be better for you.

It's a fun car. If I had it in this state I'd let you take a test drive. But I left it back in hawaii so I have a car there when I go on vacation. I have a types. It's comfortable and fun to drive and has just as much power as frs and gas mileage is great. And it's a Honda pretty much. Most engine parts are cheap and easy to find . And there about 120k miles or more on it now. And the only thing I had to change is an alternator and a battery so far as repairs to the engine go

I owned a DC5-S for many years, and still get to drive it from time to time (sold to a friend).

Very reliable car, engine is amazing (it's a k-series, come on). Easy to make power if you care. If not, it'll run forever if it hasn't been abused.

Suspension is shit. It and EP3 Civic Si have the shortest shock travel of any Honda ever made. Very easy to bottom out, if you lower it at all, you'll be banging the bump stops constantly. Almost no caster from the factory, so you get no dynamic camber in corners, means it will understeer like hell.... oh and no LSD.

Steering is hydraulic, so it has good feel and is very intuitive. Basically makes you very familiar with all the spinning that happens when you try to put power down around a corner...lol.

Can be made to be a fun DD, but a corner carver it is not. With a few basic mods (Intake/Header/KPro), it will walk an FR-S in a straight line. I drove my old DC5 the week after I got my FR-S, when I got back into the FR-S after driving the RSX, I thought there was something wrong with the engine lol.
