i know i'd probably be well advised to use bootcamp for stability's sake if nothing else, but i have a retina macbook pro with the small ssd and i can't warrant allocating a big heap of disk space to another windows install, as i couldn't get rid of parallels anyway because i use it to test work on internet explorer (damn you internet explorer!).

i'll probably buy a dedicated tuning laptop sooner or later, macbook air with bootcamp.
Before looking at another Macbook for tuning, I would suggest this line from Lenovo: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/yoga/

I have a Unibody MBP that I absolutely love and has served me faithfully for years. I picked up a Yoga 2 Pro for a steal ($850 for the one with the i7, 8gb RAM, and 256SSD) and it has been an amazing little machine. Lighter than an air, way better battery life than an air or MBP, and the screen is fantastic and more versatile. I have experience with Airs, MBPs, and of course this and I am totally satisfied with the Yoga. With that said, I use my MBP and Lenovo both pretty much daily, but the Yoga is so much better for tuning.

Edit: Oh yeah, my resolution is also 3200x1800 instead of 1366x768 or 1440x900 on the Air. I can get 5 tables side by side on this screen and 4 -8 rows down. Good for looking at about 10 different tables side by side compared to an old version of the ROM you are working on.

i've never really looked at what's available on the pc side of things, since i work in software development with ruby i use osx exclusively. i guess it would depend on how single-purpose the machine could be, i.e. if it only has tuning tools on it then i don't care if i can run my dev environment on it. i'm about to pick up a new mac pro for the home office, so my mbp could serve as a mobile dev environment allowing me to use a cheaper pc laptop for tuning.

so many options...

Not only should it speed things up, it will ensure the software is totally stable.

This is a great move by Ecutek. $950 for what it can do is a pretty solid deal. Flat-shift and launch control are something I personally want in a software mapper. The programming use of the CC stick is the coolest thing!

Looks like I now know what I will be saving up for after Christmas season

Just glad that it's FINALLY here! ...seriously thought the Ecutek guys were going to lock this forever. Would be a shame.
Very pleased to see you are happy and feel you have a good deal

For you guys new to tuning see the mega manual, it is still IMO the best how-to when it comes to tuning.

http://www.megamanual.com/begintuning.htm

Luckily most of the really hard stuff like constants and basics to get the car running are taken care of. Also make sure to check the help files in ProECU. The really important stuff is highlighted there.

I have a question. I am searching through the other posts currently for this so forgive me if it was answered but the OP says:
Quote:
ProECU BRZ
This software will allow the enthusiast to calibrate, program and data log their vehicle. It will also include the following RaceROM features:
Launch Control
Flat Foot Shifting
Auto Blip
Throttle Mapping
Per Gear Rev Limits
I have my cable and lic. but I have not been able to find those features... I thought it was just me over looking them but when I asked the Vendor I bought the lic. from I was told they are Racerom only features.

If you are starting with a new rom go to the race rom tab, and then click the left button and go to the rom folders, and then the (i think) patches folder and find the matching patch. This will install ecutek's feature pack. Your license indicates which racerom features you can use. I believe this is also in the manual which I suggest reading. It is in the help menu and has a lot of useful info including some sensor calibrations to start with.

Just finished finding it, I would not have thought to do that right off the bat, I saw the tab but wasn't sure where the files were located until I spent some time searching around in the EcuTek folder.

Either way thanks.

Nevermind, their server must have been down. I got the update. The included BRZ CEL PDF will be immensely helpful if they ever pop up again.

I know this has been asked before ,but i will ask again. Is there any way to have Ecutek save the selected logging parameters so that i don't have to select them each and every time i open the program? Does it write the defaults to an xml file or is it hard coded in the executable? I know this is a minor complaint, but it sure would be nice if the "save layout" function was all inclusive. thx!

If there has been a way to change this all this time I will be seriously upset. The number of times I do this daily drives me absolutely crazy especially on my tablet while riding passenger. lol. I was actually going to email @EcuTek tomorrow and ask if there was any way to do anything like this.
