Not sure if this can be altered in Ecutek, but I know this is actually very common on many many vehicles out there today.

Sincerely,

as ambient temps continue to climb, I'm really having some heat issues in traffic or stop and go driving. If I don't turn on my heater full blast, I see coolant temps to 218F. Once the car gets moving on the freeway, everything is fine.

What are people seeing temp wise in traffic in hot weather? I'm going to get a vented hood soon but I have a feeling that is not going to be enough. I saw a heat shroud thing on the engine forum, do you think that will help?

It will climb to 216 and then the fan will kick in full blast and bring that down to 206'ish in a few seconds... then it will climb back up to 216 and repeat...

I want both fans to kick in. hmmm

I have my fans set to run basically all the time while the car is running.

Temps stay steady at 200-204 regardless of load or conditions, even in 100 degree heat in traffic..

I have the FB radiator, Spal fans, and FB shroud.

Is re-wiring the stock fans really as simple as it sounds?

that depends. If the factory wiring/fuse/relay can handle double its intended load then sure, slice the other fan into the first fans wiring harness but I doubt it. You would most likely have to either run a new wiring harness with a relay that is triggered by the primary fan OR removing the trigger wire for the secondary fan and splice the primary fan relay trigger wire into it so the thermostat triggers both relays. The aforementioned probably the best-easy options. The best hard option involves wiring it in a way that turns on both fans with the thermostat and one fan when the ac is on. I need the car to figure that one out as electrical stuff isn't really my favorite thing to do.

Has anyone thought about louvers on top of the front fenders?

Actually just talked to Ptuning's tuner Toan. He says both fans are activated in response to coolant temp. No need to re-wire.

well if I put my heater on full blast without the A/C, i can get my coolant temp to hover around 190 ~ 195F which is awesome for the motor but not for me lol. I've been driving with the heater on HI and full blown and it sucks bad.

How do you rig the fan to stay on? I think when the heater is on, maybe both fans are on full blast?

The AC triggers one of the fans.

Running the AC (and subsequently, the other fan) helps keep the temps down better than running the heater.

I think the AC fan also is triggered by higher temps as well.

Not sure, but Ecutek might be able to turn both fans on at a low temp. With both fans running all the time your temps will stay solid and not go up or down.

Especially on a front mount turbo car, both fans running really helps.

@ptuning says that fans being on when the car is at high speed is detrimental to the fans. Something about over spinning them due to high air velocity through them?
