I am looking to keep the factory seats (for now), but what I really need is to be able to lower the seat more. What would be the best way to give myself a lower seating position? For reference, I am 6'3" and I feel I am looking more down the hood, than out the front over the hood. Would I be able to purchase just rails to mount to the seats? Even if it was a fixed mount I would be fine. No one drives the car besides me anyways.

My searching hasn't given me the best results. Hopefully you more experienced members could shed some light. Thanks

Bride seat rails for this car do not "bottom out" completely, the rail will be between the seat and the floor of the car.

Bride rail measurements:
Bolt hole to bolt hole (side of seat): ~11 3/8" to 11 5/8"
Seat width: 16" (the bracket centers on the seat rail width)

maybe this will work for scions!
Not really "rip apart" you just need to remove a few hog clips underneath it to peel back the cover over the seat area. Then put new hog clips on.

If you don't have the sensor hooked up the passenger airbag will never be activated and you will have an airbag light in your dash.

Any new information out there.. Still havn't decided on what mounts I need to use.. or seats for that matter.. mav1178
Good info on your measurements .. thanks ...I have a 36 inch waist and I need something that is comfortable and gets me lower in the car so my helmet clears the roof. (I am 6'3"). I drive to events so they also have to be reasonably comfortable. And they can't break the bank. I would spend about $500 for the seat and bracket ...and the whole assemebly has to weigh At least 25lbs.

Recaro speed?

I'm similar size long in torso, was about all that had harness holes that worked when I sat in seats at a local shop.

Till finding rx8 Recaro the speed was my plan

does anyone know if the buddy club rails will allow for a lower than stock seat height? Or are the nagisa rails the only ones that will allow this? Thanks.

Ok.. I ended up with a Corbeau FX1.. I used the stock sliders with Custom side rails. and stock seat belt mount. Very happy.. I appreciate everyone's input.
Here are the pics. I have some tinkering to do. but for the most part, Done

Seriously, if they did, I'd have bought one and trust me, I looked. The dealer won't sell the passenger sensor separately as it's part of a "safety assembly" and they apparently can't get it without buying a whole seat.

If you are running an FRS on the street, you do NOT want to disable the passenger airbag unless you never have a passenger in the car. If you get into an accident, even if it's not your fault, and the passenger gets injured or worse, you'll have a serious liability suit on your hands as well as potential criminal charges.

On the Nagisa rails for the 86, what's the inside-to-inside rail width measurement? I want the seat to drop in between the rails and get my seating position least 2" lower than stock...my hip width is right at 14", and wear size 34" waist pants. I am interested in the Sparco EVO II...but at ~16.5" width shell, will it fit between the Nagisa rails? Would also be interested in the Sparco Ergo (medium) which is ~16.3" width shell. If these don't work I guess I would be forced to go with the Bride Zeta III Type L, or Type XL if it will fit between the rails...wonder if a Sparco Corsa would fit as well (400mm/~15.7" shell width)....would be a really tight squeeze though.

So if you want the side air bags to still go off in an accident all you need to do is get a passenger seat sensor and driver seat sensor for them to deploy, correct?

I think there MIGHT be a way to turn off the passenger weight sensor through Toyota techstream software. More than likely it will still show a fault since it is not plugged in and will still show an open circuit
So its better to just get one bucket seat because the driver side is a lot more simpler? (:
