Possible BRZ purchase
Hey guys, been looking for a new vehicle and was originally waiting on the mustang remodel , but with the same power plant and transmission (will have a bump in hp) and the late next year release ; I decided to look around.
Was looking at a FRS originally. (Lower initial cost, less creature comforts. Also apparently faster around the track from what I had been reading from car magazines. ) My plans are to eventually mod the vehicle, gripper tires , suspension, etc. Was looking around and found a BRZ for 22k 2013 Subaru Brz World rally blue 10,000 miles Limited Doesn't seem much of a price difference compared to the used FRS. Seem like a decent buy? |

If you're planning to use it as a DD and live in a colder climate the BRZ Limited is worth the extra cost. If it's just a track day/weekend type of car, you'd be better off with the FR-S.
The BRZ you mentioned for 22k seems like a great deal, perhaps suspiciously low assuming it's in good shape. Either these cars are depreciating faster than I would hope, or there's something wrong with that one. Give it a good look over, take it to a mechanic etc, but if it looks good there is no reason not to get that BRZ over a similarly priced FR-S. |

22k is a bit low, unless it has mad miles on it, on kbb limited brz with 17k miles as a trade in to the dealer comes up to 23k so...

Check the build date and service records. Check CarFax.
2013 was a relatively long build year that ran all the way through July of 2013. The BRZs produced in July of 2013 are noticeably tighter and quieter than those from earlier in 2012. There only real difference between a 2013 and 2014 BRZ is the aha radio app support. A late production 2013 will also have the second to latest version of the HPFP (The latest revision didn't even make it to some of the first 2014s) and most of the other important issues addressed. You can print the TSBs and applicable VINs to see where the car you are looking at falls. Worries me to see you were shopping the 'stang... they are different vehicles. Make sure you really want an FRS/BRZ lest you be seen on here in a month lamenting the lack of grunt off the line and looking for spendy mods to make it more of a dragster. First mod should be sound tube suppression, second should be a serious set of tires... you may find you need little else. IMO the seat upgrade in the limited is worth the price of admission. WRB is the best color regardless of what other posters on this forum might tell you. |

Well we are supposed to be having some rain/wintry mix the next few days so I'll try to pass by the dealer soon as I can. Would hate to run by the dealer in the rain. Tends to hide imperfections in the paint. Won't have time til next weekend if so. Hope it's still there!

Went by the dealership today and the vehicle is sold. Sold Saturday; had a white BRZ in stock, but was a premium. (Same price as limited they just sold). The search continues.
The good news is the WRB BRZ was a auto though the ad clearly said 6 speed manual (pics of shifter weren't apparent in the crappy photos so didn't pick that up.) looking for a 6 spd. |

Possible BRZ purchase
Yeah I know I've read lots about the car. Main goal is autocross for next year. Want to try to pursue it as a hobby. It's about the handling on this car. Will enjoy that ; if down the line I want power they're plenty of forced induction options that can make a 2800lb car quick. I will (try to) wait for next gen mustang for my power fix.

Still a limited? You could try talking them down a little I guess-- maybe down to 24? I'd still be tempted to go for that if it's in good nick though: I paid just shy of $27 for mine new in the same spec. You should still have a ton of warranty left right (correct me if I'm wrong), so what's the worst that could happen?

You could get a 2014 less-than-10-miles Premium for not too much more from this dude named Clint...

Highly prefer limited due to the small extras that will help when it comes to New England weather. Currently dealing with Clint as well for pricing quotes.
