And sadly the one of the better looking cars in the Acura/Honda lineup, imo.

Hopefully the new NSX will bring back some of that luster that Honda lost.

For the love of god Acura, make a damn coupe for christ's sake. Their cars are so boring now they are putting me to sleep. My first car was a 97 Acura 2.2Cl so I have a soft spot for them but the only car in their line-up I would consider is the TSX and even that is iffy. Damn shame where Honda has gone with their cars.

I thought they were just making it larger again but I'm not sure. I haven't been paying attention lately.

The 6MT TL SH-AWD is actually fun to drive though. The TSX can be with a LSD and better dampers and springs.

That's about it.

Honda is clearly okay with resting on their laurels and ignoring the performance market altogether.

Seriously, a 150 hp "luxury" sedan?!

The Acura design language is repulsive ("beak front end") and it is turning off customers in droves.

The "new" Civic was made even cheaper (interior bits) and less engaging than the 8th generation.

5 speed automatics are still Honda's norm though every other competitor has switched to at least a six speed for improved fuel economy and acceleration.

No RWD cars. No S2000, No NSX, not even a fun, FWD "performance" car (the new Si left me disappointed).

Honda is going to continue to lose market share.

I read an article on either Motortrend or Cars and Drivers that Acura's going to cut either the TSX or TL. I'm guessing since ILX is a entry-luxury, as well as TSX, they're going to cut TSX.

not 100% sure about the the info, but I'm pretty sure I read that part.

Yeah we've had a rebadged Civic for many years in Canada, 2 generations of EL, 1 generation of CSX, and now the ILX.

If Acura wants to lure younger customers or with stricter budgets, then this might work. The design isn't repulsive imo, but could have done up differently instead of almost resembling a TSX. And if Acura decides to axe the TSX then they are going to be making a huge mistake. The TSX is actually pretty good for what it is and I almost would want to prefer that car over their current model of the TL.

Wouldn't put it past Honda to kill their only remaining decent product and replace it with a POS.

Yeah I totally give up on them. The only way Acura can get me looking there way again is if they made a small RSX with RWD, plus the 2.4 liter engine with D/I added and turn out as light or slightly heavier than a FRS with gorgeous low slung styling and tight dynamics.

My understanding from talking to them awhile ago (ie 1.5 years ago) was that the TSX would move up and either the RL or TL would go away.

Times change though and I haven't cared enough about any of them to follow them that closely.

If the ILX does replace the TSX I think it's a good move as the 2.4L TSX motor is available in the ILX. A smaller TSX is a good thing, not a bad thing IMO. Now if it's mac strut instead of double wishbone like the TSX, that is a bad thing.

Half-ass effort pretty much sums up the car. I would of let it passed if the price point was reasonable but it is nearly 27k which is ridiculous. They seem not to care about the view about the caring average consumer and result nobody cares anymore about Honda/Acura. NSX is keeping their company alive and consumers who buy their cars because they don't care about cars that they listen to. Stop making excuses, stop listening to those careless consumers, and start being the company that once made good cars.

It's funny how the big three all almost went under for offering inferior products. Now the Honda, Toyota, VW, even MB seem to think offering low rent crap is going to net them sales. I just don't understand the thought process. Sure gm pulled it off for a while, but that wasn't because their products were preferred, it was brand loyalty and/or ignorance. Both went away with the information age. Now these companies are trying to rely on loyal customers and it just isn't going to work. The world has changed a lot, or at least the north American car market has. If the antiquated big three can change with it, why can't the companies that have prided themselves on keeping up with both technology and the times.

Toyota and Subaru have something special with the twins, but that's not amazing, it's sad. It's a rear suspension from one car & a front suspension from another car, grafted onto a small chassis. The engine isn't ground breaking nor is the formula of the car, ford did this exact same thing years ago, they called it the mustang. In the world of cars this car should seem mundane. I sometimes wonder if I plan on buying an FRS just as an excerise in democracy, it's my vote that this car, and more like it, need to be in the market.

IIRC, I believe that Acura is going to cut the RL. IMO, Honda/Acura hasn't made a decent car since the last gen of the S2000.

As for the 2.4L K24 engine, they are currently using that in two other models already (i.e 2012 Civic SI and 2012 Acura TSX). Not that its a bad engine or anything but using it again in the ILX just seems lazy...

EDIT: make that five models: Civic Si, TSX, Accord, Crosstour and CR-V.
