A little bit off topic, but what about gymkhana?

I have no interest really in the competitive side of racing, I just want to improve as a driver.

If you just found a big parking lot, threw up some cones and did some snappy driving by yourself, that probably wouldn't qualify as racing. Do such places exist that would let you do something like this without you being the property owner?

racing no

it's not a timed event, so you'd be good

but you'll probably get charged with tresspassing

and if you find an owner that would let you do this for no cost or hassle, then consider yourself uber lucky and don't tell anyone .

Does anyone have experience with raceday insurance for rallyX/autoX?
HPDE insurance isn't that expensive. For $20,000 or less Lockton Affinity is ~$139 per event (plus taxes).

However, you would need an insurance policy that covers timed events.. good luck. I haven't found one but then I've never cared for autocross and the race car I could push off a cliff.

I would definitely say that not having timing equipment would greatly improve your chances of being covered. Still, insurance companies will look for any reason possible to deny your claim.

With the understanding that you want to improve, you better bring along a better driver as an instructor.

Driving around cones by yourself isn't going to do all that much good. You will make the same mistakes without knowing that you are even making mistakes.

I've done many Rallycross events and the car has survived. Go to your local course and check it out. Mine is super flat with no rocks. Also the Rallycross organizers will change the course if gets too rutted or bumpy. I say go for it, but for the low cost you won't lose much if you stop early.
It's super fun with this car, I love it.
