While I know how to drive stick, all the cars I've used were automatics.
The BRZ was my first car I bought all on my own and I felt that if I wanted more control over changing gears I can just switch it to that pseudo manual mode. As an added reason my commute consists of A LOT of stop and go traffic, about 80% of it so I didn't want to be bothered with it.

A remote start system would also be a good reason to get auto.. the complications with remote start on a manual suck.
