2jz if you got the money !!!! Or fa20 if you want to be like everyone else who can't afford a swap lol. I personally want a 2jz, but I can't even afford it. I heard Crawford was coming out with a turbo that hits 400+ and will make the fa20 shit on a ej25. Overall Crawford and full blown has shown the fa20 is reliable engine that iswilling to put out more hp. I say just wait a little and see the options in this upcoming year. Hope my thoughts hemp. Cheers

My Supra fanatic inside me says 2JZ all the way. However to stay true to this car, definitely FI.

The torque wouldn't be dialed back ridiculously but just a bit though. I will see how the car fits me after the build but I don't want a crazy torque car.

My concern with crawford would be reliability. Their car is bad ass, BUT it seems to have a lot of problems when pushed. Not a reliable car. FA20 or Full Blown would be the way to go IMHO

Engine swaps are cool in other cars, but to me, the center of gravity, light weight, and balance of this car are its main selling points. Almost any other engine would adversly affect all three of the three best things about this car, and a 2JZ is certain to. Plus your power goals don't seem to warrant a 2JZ. It sounds like what you want is still within the realm of FA20 capability. Plus plus you'd be among the few people to actually have a high powered and still-reliable FA20. That's way more rare than just about everything I've seen done with 2JZ.
Although I still have yet to see a 2JZ powered toilet. If you want to do that, you have my support. Legitimate hella flush.

Isn't sorta hard to find a low mileage 2JZ now? (I am aware you rebuild the engine)
I would say stay with the 2 liter boxer engine. Also, our car's center of gravity is only 18 inches off of the ground in stock configuration. That a big part of why they handle well. The best reason to go 2JZ is huge HP and etc... If your goal is/was huge HP and drag racing, I question getting the FR-S/BRZ in the first place. There are cheaper/lighter cars to be had that can hold a 2JZ and go really fast in a straight line. EDIT ADDITION: If you are serious about getting a GT-R...just hold off until you get that and make that your 1000 HP monster. Last edited by Atropine; 11-11-2013 at 04:04 AM. |

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxvKZPBFTIg"]Crawford Performance Subaru BRZ Turbo Kit Dyno - YouTube[/ame] The other failures such as the clutch and CV joint are drivetrain failures you'd kinda expect from a car putting out that much power. The overheating definitely can be fixed with an aftermarket cooling system. I haven't heard much about the Crawford BRZ lately but I'd suspect that if the car is still being driven today those bugs have been worked out. OP, if you're serious about getting your car built by Crawford, my suggestion would be to have them do the physical install then use a different tuner. FA20Club or Full Blown seem to be about the most commonly used for high-HP Twins. |

I'd choose FA20 over 2jz, although I love the power and sound from 2jz, but the FA20 is a newer motor.
Still it really depends what op is after
