I love my Auto.. I miss the stick when I wanna be silly, burn outs, drifts serious launches but otherwise, I love my auto.. 40 mpg going to willow springs, then click off mid 1:33's. I was much faster once I left it in auto, sport, traction off. A recommendation by Moto, and the trans shifts perfect, perfect up shifts, and perfect down shifts.. I've spent time in both. I don't buy that whole the manual makes the car a whole nother car BS.. It feels the same, one just requires my left foot the other doesn't.. If I got the same mileage out of a manual, I may have went that way.. But 80 miles a day round trip to work when I got that car, I wanted something that had the best MPG, and the auto was better..

When I really want to go fast I jump on my 2011 GSXR 750, that has a quick shifter and auto blip.. So I don't have to use the clutch on that at all either.. And the quick shift was the best thing I ever bought on that bike..

Best thing about the paddle shifters is that they have two modes.
If you just use them, the car will change gears for a few seconds then go back to auto mode and choose the correct gear on its own.
If you slap the stick to the left ("manual position") they work as full manual paddles, holding gear until you decide to shift. Under those conditions, the only thing the car won't let you do is blow it up by downshifting with the rpm too high.

LOL the first guy is my dad, the one dancing is me. No secret, I just invested ALL my money into Tesla (the electric car) at the very beginning and bought some toys! This was before I bought my FRS, you can see my shitty Audi A6 in the background. Good riddance.

There are two secrets to success:

1. Never tell everything you know.

I think you've mistaken my post for reality when it was truly sarcasm.

Nope, not at all.

My post was written to generate laughs and "thanks".

Cheers

My last car was a VW GLI with a dual clutch transmission, and while fast, they can get confused in normal driving. The key to their lightning quick shifts is gear pre-selection, where the transmission controller guesses the next gear (either up or down) and changes to it ahead of time. When the next gear is selected (if the controller guessed right) all it has to do is release one clutch and activate the other, however if it guessed wrong, it has to change to the proper gear which adds shift time. My main gripe with DCT (at least in the VW I owned) is it often felt harsh. Shifts were quick but often hard and reversing slowly on an incline would buck like crazy. Standard auto transmissions generally have neither of these drawbacks.

TL/DR : DCT is not just "better" than a standard auto.

I kind of wish I would have at least test drove an auto FRS.

+1

2007 1098 and 2011 Diavel Carbon. Both bikes would smoke just about any Subaru on a clean dry road. 0-162 on the Diavel is QUICK. 0-~170 on the 1098 is a tad slower. Fastest I've done in my STI was 150ish.

Nope, test drove it and decided to keep my AT for a few reasons. Main reason was a difference of 6-7 grand to trade in my AT with 4k miles for a MT with 7k miles. The MT I was looking at was also driven by a female and was her first MT so I didn't know the condition the clutch was in. Overall very happy and waiting for SSP's clutch upgrade for us AT owners when I go Precision Turbo this summer!!
