I own a AT and I've beat many MT cars in AutoX while NA. Now that I've got the Innovate SC the car feels AMAZING. I'm beating cars with 2X+ the HP. Yeah I can't drop the clutch and do a burnout, so what. :P

no, the gt-r comes with two manuals and a computer to switch between them, not an automatic. your fr-s slushbox has absolutely nothing at all in common with a twin clutch box.

in the end it's not about what is faster or more reliable or more convenient. it's about being a car guy. you bought a damn lightweight rwd sports car, put your big boy pants on and shift the damn thing .

if it was an econobox the auto might be ok, but even then as a car guy you should be ashamed. every time a guy buys an fr-s/brz/miata/etc with a slushbox, the car gods cry.

This is inaccurate. A DCT has the same basic structure as a conventional manual transmission but uses two clutches to engage the gearsets on two shafts. However, the end result is almost indistinguishable from a modern lock up torque converter planetary gearbox (an automatic).

The planetary automatic is lighter, more efficient and handles higher torque for similar weights.

The planetary automatic has one clutch and the second "clutch" is the torque converter. One "clutch" always slips and the other never does. The beauty of the torque converter automatic is it has one extra gear ratio which is variable up to converter stall speed, so a 6 spd automatic is really a 7 spd with a variable ratios first gear, and all shifts are smooth with no power interruption at all.

Very similar computer controls are used for both types of automatic.

The ONLY reason the BRZ/FRS automatic is slower than the manual is the gear ratios.

The newer 8 spd automatics are quicker than a manual and comparable to the best DCT.

This manual Vs automatic thing is like politics and religion. You'll never get complete agreement on what is the best choice. I can drive a stick, over 500,000 miles driven with one. I love my AT and I'll leave it at that.

That doesn't surprise me. Automatics are now so good no human driver can beat them. With the gearbox shifting gears (even if you paddle shift) you can concentrate on driving effectively.

ive driven manuals since highschool but i think getting older and wanting to be able to take it easy on the way home after a long day of work, the auto makes a lot of sense. when i was younger, i never considered an auto either... so i can see why others would think like i did many years ago.

So now the point is the fun factor? Hmm... I could've sworn the point you were trying to make earlier was that the "slushbox", as you so eloquently put it, is nowhere near comparable to a DCT.

People see facts and they

I bought a manual car, if I could do it over I'd get an auto.
