The amount OP wants to spend is a good ballpark range and budget but there are always lesser expensive options.

I'd just hate to scare OP away from the idea of being able to achieve the setup he wants for his car. There is always a way.

And regarding the post that mentioned wider tires don't make sense unless you're running forced induction - how is more grip ever a bad thing?

Granted, getting these cars sideways on stock tires is a blast but accelerating hard out of turns/curves is just as much fun. This chassis is phenomenal and after riding on both - I'd take 265/35's all around over the stock setup any day of the week.

Sure, maybe to an extent it is slightly overkill but that doesn't change the fact that it drastically improves this car's handling characteristics.

Adding on, I think I've seen people running 18x9.5 +40 wheels with 225/40 tires on stock suspension. It might be very close to rubbing spring perch but I think it's been done.

That might be something more up your alley Koffy.

With that being said, aftermarket wheels always look a little bit silly on stock ride height.

I've owned my FRS for almost a year, and while I have auto-crossed twice with it, its my daily driver. I drive fairly aggressively whenever I get the opportunity and when I see some of the mods done on other FRS/BRZ's, I salivate with envy. This being said, I have ZERO tech/gear/car intelligence, and I'm hoping to just get a couple clear-cut ideas on my options.
I want to upgrade my wheels and tires. I don't want to do any other mods to the car. I am just looking for something that both looks and performs more aggressively and will stay on the road better. I love the look of the wider, flush tires, and aggressive black wheels, but I don't know what it means to do this. Is there something specific to look for if I take my car to a tire/wheel shop? I don't want to get screwed or deal with someone thats fresh out of high school and has no idea what they are talking about. You guys know your shit, and I value your advice. I don't want to spend over $2500 if possible. Thanks for any info.

I got my wheels from this vendor @vividracing the guy is great to talk to and can help you out. I currently AutoX my car so with my wheels I left them at 17" but extended the width to 8". that allows me a nice 245/40/17 tire on the car and is phenomenal with handling. Buying wheels has been probably the best mod I have to do my car.

If he wants to stay stock class, he can't go wider than stock.
