J2 engineering exhaust

my order came in last night and to tell you guys the truth...i wasn't expecting a good looking full catback exhaust for $370 shipped. $80 more and i can get a catless downpipe but opted not to since i dont want warranty to get voided off..
I know quality can't be compare on the likes of well known brands..but i dont have any intentions of building a track car. its a DD and all we want is to enhance the sound and make the back look a little more aggressive.
just crossing my finger that im not gonna have any issues once installed.
going to Prime Motoring again saturday for these and some goodies..

I'm curious, whats those little tanks on the side? What do they do? And why do the quads not have it?

Ugg... that "merge" from single to dual pipe is awful. Horribly restrictive. Everything else looks good though.

unfortunately, the item that i got cant be installed (fitment problem).. so i need to return this and exchange with another brand instead. Just curious if modifications were made by other members here...the place that i ordered the exhaust from has nothing to do with fitment problem. theyre sending me a return label..and hopefully order and exchange with a better brand.
well i did try..guess saving a little won't work this time

fitment has been hit or miss with j2. with my quad tip, i had to do some tweaking with longer exhaust hangers(was touching the underside of the trunk and transmitting noise) and a zip tip to pull it in line. and those "tanks" are resonators.

Fitment is a hit or miss. Mine was certainly a miss! The shop had to modify the exhaust to keep it from melting the rear bumper. The muffler hits the rear crossmember. I'll be getting rid of mine in a few weeks.

The piece that merges the single to dual tip is horribly restrictive. You can tell because most of the exhaust comes from the right tip. Simply put your hand over the left tip and you'll feel nothing.

I opted for the J2 front pipe as well. My car is catless and the rasp introduced by the J2 and metallic exhaust sound is not desirable. With 3 resonators you would think rasp would be no issue and the sound would be great...wrong! The resonators aren't beefy and while the helmholtz style resonators are supposed to eliminate rasp, they do nothing.

It wasn't a good purchase on my part and I wish I had waited instead of rushing. There are better exhaust options on the market. I know this inexpensive option looks appealing but I strongly suggest doing more research or just waiting until your budget allows you to comfortably afford another option. It's better to save a couple hundred more than to throw ~$400 down the drain.

To J2s credit, their customer service is good. If you say something is wrong they have no problem sending you a UPS label and shipping you a new unit but that won't resolve the design faults nor the time or labor spent with the first defective unit.
