Thank you to our dealers for keeping positive. We have a few more details to iron out before we make any announcements. We were hoping to be able to do this at SEMA but it has not been possible. As soon as we have confirmed the details, we will be making an announcement and we appreciate your patience. Going forward, EcuTek will have a greater presence on this forum and we look forward to engaging in conversation with you all.

too funny Ecutek had lots to say about things you guys wanted to hear about. Yes, a new better version of speed density was announced. The other thing, the big thing, will remain secret until Ecutek tells the public themselves. You guys will be pleased.

I would think that the only thing that would be big enough for most folks to be pleased would be for open maps and end-user tuning capability.

even then the cost of the cable alone would make it the most expensive option for that purpose, but yeah, i'd pay just for the (presumably) better defs and software. but that'll never happen. their customers are tuners and shops, not end users. they would piss off their entire existing customer base that paid all that money to effectively own their customer's ecus. once it's opened up, the 'customer retention' benefit of being an ecutek tuner pretty much evaporates. people could just buy the software and take it anywhere they want to be tuned (ecutek 'master tuner' or otherwise).

we can hope, though.

What if they cut the price of the license and cable by half. EcuTek prices will be very close to other tuning options.

the problem isn't that it's too expensive for the market (though it is), the problem is that it's too restrictive to end-users. it's a rough spot for them, they can't 'free' us without pissing off the people that paid them to keep us locked up

as long as there are john viscontis in the world, that locked-down, married-to-your-tuner model is going to suck regardless. just ask anyone who had to pay toni to clean up visconti's various messes.

Here's a question - whatever this big update is supposed to be, will existing EcuTek license owners have access to whatever it is without an upgrade cost?

Alright, here are the 2 videos.

The first is going over all of the announcements EcuTek made at SEMA. It covers a few platforms so if you just want to hear about FR-S /BRZ skip to the 11 min. mark.

The second video is going over the EcuTek software, some of it's advantages and their philosophy with their tuning software.

EcuTek had planned a second, BRZ/FR-S specific announcement, however due to time constraints and some final details to be ironed out they are delaying that. I don't have an ETA for that announcement BUT it will be a welcomed addition for most of you. So please be patient, stay tuned.

Sidenote: EcuTek has promised to be more active on these forums and to be available for questions, feedback, etc. They have posted in this thread just today, so that is also a good announcement for us here.

Enjoy the videos!

Come on with automatic trans updates or reduced prices for automatics since we don't get half of the features or support of the Manual cars. We're getting hosed.

No one watched the video?

They talked about improved speed density, revisions to launch control/traction control, improved flex fuel, improved closed loop boost control... at least its something if not the "main" announcement
