Here there aren't too many twisties to challenge those knucklehead (unless you count on/off ramps) BUT you wouldn't BELIEVE how many one-car accidents we have hear (on perfectly clear sunny days no less).
No, most drivers in WA are unbelievably slow and oblivious to everything around them. Like 5 under in the fast lane refusing to pass semis with a half mile clear ahead of them slow. This is one of the most infuriating states to drive in that I've ever been to, and there are maybe 4 states I haven't driven in. I would take Florida drivers any day of the week over these people who drive like heroin addicts.

Reminds me of something that happened to me recently (sort of opposite)

A sycho B|tch was following me and tailgating me bigtime on the normal commute home from work @ 65 MPH
It was bumper to bumper and she had no-where to go, but ( completely unnatural for ME) I pulled over to the right and let her by me...

Why? Because the work truck in front of me (that I had been following for 5 miles) had no brake lights......

I didnt follow to see what happened, but I'm sure it wasnt pretty

I guess these guys see the 86 in magazines and want to 'see what they're about'.
Aren't escalades aero limited to like 110?

When you're in front you're at their mercy. When you're in back you're in control. Perhaps your dad was just trying to prove that he wasn't perfect.

If someone is speeding belligerently, or acting aggressively towards me, I let them by. No sense provoking an ass. If they are driving erratically or poorly and not necessarily speeding, I get by and make myself a good amount of space and keep my eye out in the rear view. I'd rather not have to trust that I can stop fast enough to avoid an accident that they may cause in front of me. Drivers that seem drunk especially, I call 911 to report then get out of dodge. They tend to drive relatively slow, which means I would have to drive slower to make space, which A. make me more likely to get rear ended (not flowing with traffic) and practically speaking, keeps me from getting to my destination when I want to.

Unless someone is *really* speeding, you can almost always create a good amount of space between you and them without driving too dangerously. There is only so much you can slow down, and at that point, you're just continually dealing with their asshattery and becoming a potential target for other drivers who may not be paying enough attention.

Ask anyone who's ridden a motorcycle for any amount of time and they'll tell you the same. Vacate the premises.

Cheers
Nathan

Nathan, the topic of this thread was aggressive drivers riding your ass. The post I commented on referred to 'dangerous' drivers, not a car that's going slower than you are. We're talking about two different things.

As far as asking anyone who has ridden a motorcycle for any amount of time; my first bike was a home made motor scooter my dad made me in 1946. I rode from that time till my last ride ended in 2009 because of and accident which was the first accident I ever had on the street. That's 63 years. In addition I'm also a former MSF instructor.

I'm of the opinion that adults can make their own decisions and can take the responsibility for the consequences. If the SUV driver over-drove himself into a tree, it's his fault, and his fault alone.

If someone wants to follow me down a twisty road, they're more than welcome to. But it's no hair off my head if they don't know the limits of their own car. That's a basic responsibility of being a driver; Understand the two-ton weapon you are weilding! I am no one's father.

Schooled.

I was referring to the particular comment about the father telling him to get away. In some cases, it is the best thing to do. That comment didn't seek to be referring to speeding or there wouldn't have been opportunity to pass.

Cheers
Nathan

PS, sorry to hear about the accident.

Well, (can one their own thread .... ??).

Yep, mr whaap, I remember, back in the day, my first motorized, 2 wheeled machine, was a very used Cushman. My first lesson learned was NOT to turn onto a gravel road at 20 mph ....

Sorry for the flashback .....
