@shiv@vishnu Ignore my voicemail I left for you this afternoon. I was getting repeaded error messages on my Windows 8 laptop when I first connected the tablet. It would do it's update, but would eventualy fail at the end and give me an error message. I uninstalled software and reinstalled with windows 8 patch both times with no success. So I finally said the hell with it and went over to my Windows 7 laptop and had no issues whatsoever.
I'll post a screenshot of the error message later if you wish ? Anyhow, everything went great once I had a working laptop. Flashing updated tune went as planned, but I did notice how time consuming this was in comparison to flashing a file via EcuTek cable and laptop. I'm guessing this has something to do with the overall speed of the tablet and internal memory it uses ? Thanks! Need to test out my tune now

quick question: is it normal that it's kind of long before the gaz pedal adjust itself again?
after 4-5 start-up, + 40km, seems to still have a huge lag (i know i already had this situation, once when i disconnected the battery, but still) can't wait to really enjoy it for real!

It happens any time you flash the ECU irregardless of whether you use OFT or ECUTEK or some other software. You can either just drive it for a while and the ECU will relearn, or set the car to ON, but don't start the engine. Then just depress the gas pedal all the way and release about 10-20 times. Turn off the car, then start it up as usual and the deal pedal should be gone. |

Glad everything worked out. Regarding flash times, the OFT writes the entire ROM, not just parts of it. This takes 4.5 minutes. From my experience, Ecutek dealer software also takes 4.5 minutes too when the entire ROM is written. Ecutek customers who report shorter write times likely are only writing part of the ROM (ie, just the bits that were edited). Apart from the extra time it takes to do a full ROM write, there are some potential safety advantages to do this (vs partial writes). I've also reloaded the FA20 OTS maps on the website. Sorry about the earlier snafu! Cheers, shiv |

I just checked all my Ecutek files and each one is 1.25MB. Flashing these files took about 1 or 2 minutes max from start to finish. Has anyone else reported issues running Openflash with Windows 8? I read in another thread that there were issues with Openflash manager crashing and it would be rectified with an update by tomorrow, just wondering if it was Windows 8 related. I can post screen shots of my error message tomorrow if it will help. But maybe you guys already have it under control ? Thanks!

The ROM file is always going to be 1.25mb. What is going to differ is how much of it (partial or full) is going to be written to the ECU. This will determine, for the most part, how much time the write process will take. I'm running Windows 8 myself on my laptop (MacBook Pro with Parallels). Just make sure you are running OpenFlash Manager v1.03. The earlier versions will crash with the new OFT firmware. The new software is downloadable from our website as of earlier this morning. Shiv |

Guess I should just update to 8.1, yeah my Windows 7 laptop had no issues whatsoever and will continue use it if need be. But would like to set things up on my Windows 8 laptop if at possible.
Here are the prompts and error message I end up with here... The first two screens are update prompts, but each one looks a little different from one another and they come in that order UPDATE: OpenFlash manager 1.02 is the problem, updated to 1.03 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

What! I don't think I got a sticker.
![]() I reflashed my car last night using the Stage 1 tune to compliment my Perrin CAI and Perrin CBE. 3-4k seems smoother. It gets pretty gnarly after 4k lol. My car def pulls harder on the top end. So far so good. Still trying to sort out this dead gas pedal though. I think I'll be pretty happy once that's gone. |

Yea no problems here with Windows 8.1. I did have a problem with Windows 7 running on my Mac though... but I think that might have been tied to OFM 1.02.
The only major glitch I have had so far was a repeated "An error occurred while reading data from DME. Please try again." I got this every time I initially tried to read my ECU. I was making the error of turning my engine on though and not just turning the car to ON with the engine off. So to all other newbs out there, take my poor example as a lesson. Has anyone else tried loading 2 maps onto the Tablet in addition to the Original? I first tried that, (to try out the difference between 1.2 and 1.3) but it seemed to cause the tablet to freeze with a white screen when plugging it into the OBD II port. I have since removed both and re-uploaded just the 1.3 and all works perfect, just curious if there is maybe a memory restriction on the tablet if we try to have multiple maps loaded on it. All in all, love the package, awesome value. Thanks Shiv for becoming a solid part of the community! |
