A huge impact (increase in power) with a catless header, but yes, you will absolutely need a custom tune. Basically, you can nearly double the gains.

A little disingenuous to attribute all of that to the header Mike, c'mon. The combination of a pro-tune and header resulted in the ~100hp gain over as assumed baseline of 175hp peak. The CARB tune gives you what, ~50-60hp? Assume 20hp for each the tune and header - though I would caution that the biggest changes the tune makes will be in the shape of the curve rather than the height of the curve.

I'm saying the combination of the header AND tune. You can't just throw on the header; the CARB tune will probably freak out and go into limp from the drastic change in VE.

The CARB tune was good for a 70whp gain. From 4500-6500 RPM, the HKS header + tune doubled the gains. After 6500, the gains plateau on the header + tune, and below 4500, the torque dip elimination overshadows the gains from the HKS header + tune.

Don't focus too much on peak numbers. You're only at the peak for an instant. Rather, focus on the overall power gain.

As I said, the shape of the curve is more important - people may misunderstand "double the gain omg 140hp w000t sttrippers and cooooke!" you know?

I threw together a quick pic...

For those that aren't sure what they're looking at

Blue area = stock power
Green area = Gains from Jackson Racing SC + CARB tune, everything else stock
Red area = Gains beyond the CARB tune with a HKS EL header, catless front pipe, and custom tune.

Do you have a bigger picture, hard to read the numbers.

You guys are hilarious.

Currently my BRZ is engine stock + Perrin Intake. Just recieved the Perrin 3" exhaust, to be installed when it's not winter in Fargo, ND - So August.

Looking forward to the S/C realm and want to get some planning in. Thanks for the Help!

Sig worthy, and probably the best quote to ever grace this forum.

Mike that is great news and I really appreciate you guys doing the acid test with repeated track abuse forthcoming. I have been modifying my car in stages, intentionally to experience the difference on track as the progression moves along. Eventually I plan to be running a reliable supercharged setup tuned for E85 at the track and 93 on the street just I am in NA form. Other than the custom NA tunes, everything I have done so far is a means to that end.
