What are the conditions for the measurment of the official weight of the brz?

not correct. the prht is still probably hundreds lighter and its only the corrrect comparison by your arbitrary guidelines. i could just as easily say that the soft top is the correct comparison because it doesnt have an extra 50+ pound electric motor working the roof. and then i guess we can just ignore the fact that all what extra weight comes in at the top of the miata.

I do not see anything different about this article from the last.

0 to 60 in 7.5 secs? It's getting slower? And its lighter than the miata? Something is not right...

Don't pay too much attention to variation in 0-60 times. With a manual transmission, launching skill is as much a component to the time as power.

They call it a "comparison", and then quote some random-ass zero-to-sixty time for the BRZ only? There's very little "comparing" going on in this article, except for some mildy subjective comments that someone who hasn't even driven the cars could come up with.

"Subaru BRZ vs Nissan 370Z vs Mazda MX-5"? What a joke.

I'm puzzled by this review. If the point of the review is to suggest that the BRZ is more fun, I think that point's been made already. If the point is to suggest that there are conditions under which a 370Z can't keep up with a BRZ, this review is not convincing.

"One that could be the best sports car to come out of Japan since the Honda NSX"

Can this be true? BRZ at the same level as the legendary NSX??
If so, this bugger is definitely worth the money spent.

That said, the MX-5 is pretty old car which shows how great Mazda's MX-5 had been all this time.

The write is over exaggerated quite a bit. What best? Most fun to drive affordable sport car? probably ( I have never driven one). AFAIK, GT-R is the best sport car for what it intends to do, kill supercars. LFA is the best supercar for what it intends to be, reliable, comfortable, trackable monster. So are Supra Mk4, Fairlady Z, Miata, and so on.

They meant that in a "that car is special" sense, not that it is comparable to the NSX in terms of actual performance.

The NSX broke people's understandings of supercars when it came out. It was also mild for a supercar at the time, despite having some radical elements never before seen in a production car.

How does the BRZ factor into that understanding of the NSX? Well it does have some never before seen elements (DI + boxer), but I think dsp4's correct in that this car is special in a way similar to how the NSX was special.

i really dont think that putting di on a boxer motor is "special." its not like there were any hurdles that needed to be overcome or anything that needed to be pioneered. if you count that as "special," you might as well count the rx8s doors "special" or the elises chassis "special." the only thing that really makes this car special is that it is a mediocore sports car in a time where there arent many sports cars.

the mustang gt broke peoples understandings of what an american muscle car can do and how much it costs to do it. why isnt that special? maybe the brz is the most special car since last years cars
