Have you verified the other 3 wheels are good? Are the bends on the opposite side from where the wheel was hung from?

There are two bends, one on the front wheel and the other on the back. I haven't seen the bends because its in the shop but I am tomorrow morning. I am just hoping I can get some sort of discount or money back from this incident. I'll most likely just leave it as it is as long as it doesn't affect performance or look obvious

affect performance? With a stretch like that there is no performance lol. If there are bends on more than 1 wheel, it's most likely the powder coatings fault.

That doesn't look like a warp condition to me. That looks like some careless handling at the coater. Like, as in dropped by a mindless shop helper.

Exactly. I can confidently say that your wheel was dropped/ impacted and is bent, not warped. I can also tell you that you might as well get a new wheel because that one is likely beyond repair since it is bent on the outer lip of the wheel. If i was you i would try and make the powder coater eat the cost of the wheel.

Sorry to see this. I think it might be Karma. When the wheels saw the color they were about to become, they jumped off the table and tried to run away.

Inspect your other 3 wheels closely, let all parties know about the issue and see if they'll work with you on a replacement wheel and setup costs for coating.
Why wouldn't it be... They have to prep the wheel before coating... how do they know that they have preped the wheel correctly if they don't inspect them thoroughly?

I don't see any damage to the metal from the pics. OP says he has two bent wheels, as well. Still interested in the names of those businesses who in today's f-ed up liability law-suit happy culture would not do at least some basic pre-work inspection of incoming parts. Discovering a bent wheel prior to coating it is not rocket science. Even if they did drop it, you'd think they would have at least made an attempt to lie to the OP rather than just send him two bent wheels. Too late now to blame the OEM, whoever shipped them or even the coater now that they are on the car. Inspect and document, every time.

Looks like that was from someone being a little overzealous mounting the tire. I've had it happen to wheels before. I doubt it's from the powder coating.

What does wheel roundness have to do with adhesion promotion? Again, I have more of an issue with the shop not catching it before mounting the tires than I do with any kind of liability for the painter. Painters are painters, they want to know what material they are painting and that's what they focus on. They aren't going to inspect a wheel for perfect roundness, they won't have a metrology lab. They probably paint all kinds of crap and if it's an automated line they won't inspect at all, they will just hang and spray. If it's small batch, I'd say the odds are even less that the painter is at fault.

The shop, however, can easily check the wheel for roundness before mounting the tire.

Why didn't the OP inspect upon receipt?
Why didn't the shop inspect before sending for paint?
Why didn't the shop inspect before installing the tires?

These are very minor bends, which are hard to catch. I think the OP is fine to run the wheels as is. Did the shop check the balance of the wheels before tires?

I know a lot about powder coating and even more about aluminum casting - OP, send me a PM if you have any specific questions. I also responded to your other thread about this.

At this point I think its almost impossible to hold someone accountable for the bends.. it could of happened during shipping, it could have happened during powder coating, it could of happened during mounting the tires... sucks but you should of taken a look at them when you received the wheels.
