Ahh, fair enough. Yes, I meant use 'wheels' instead of 'rims'.

Whenever people use 'rims' I imagine a 17 year old in his fresh kicks talking about all the bitches he gets and how sick his rims are.

In ascending order : A few bucks for plasti dipping (black) my wheels which came out fantastic. A few bucks to cap the sound tube, again fantastic. $40 fumoto valve ? $80 to get my back glass tinted, meh. $130 to get center console knee pads, don't bother. $230 for the OEM armrest, wow best money spent. And the priciest is opti-guarding which the jury is still out on. Oh, an $45 on a k/n filter purely as a placebo.

I don't anticipate throwing any more $ at this DD until I'm forced to when the time comes, which would be better rubber. I'm literally sideways in spirited driving.

People that say clear bra, I've always thought of it also but at the price it costs to cover the whole front side up you'll be better off getting new paint later down the line with that money. That's my opinion though.

I think it needs a bit of camber on the front but other than that, it is solid on the suspension side. It needs a bit more HP but getting that without voiding my extended factory warranty is the problem I am having. That's why I asked the question. Thank you for all of you that actually tried to help me, and for those of you that were just rude or trolling, thank you as well. You gave me a laugh. Maybe I need to find another forum for asking legitimate questions about a car that I am truly in love with.

First of all, modifications don't void your warranty. If add a cold air intake and your transmission cracks somewhere and starts leaking fluids, the dealer should fix your transmission because it has nothing to do with the Cold Air Intake, etc.

Mods can prevent the warranty from being honored for certain repairs though. If you toss on a turbocharger and your transmission breaks, they can easily claim that it was a result of the turbocharger.

Now, in terms of finding mods that can remain undetectable just to be safe, a drop-in Air filter and Open Flash Tablet are still the best two.

The filter is unnoticeable unless they have to take apart your airbox for something, and if you're really paranoid, it only takes about 5 minutes to swap back to the stock air filter (or less).

Unless the dealer is plugging into your car to check your ECU, they should have no idea that you have a tune. However, if you want to be safe, you can flash your ECU back to the stock map, and the dealer will never know you changed it. It takes about 5 minutes to flash the ECU.

Exhaust is completely out of the question if you want to remain undetected. But new wheels + stickier tires won't (or shouldn't, unless they can find that they were installed improperly and were directly or indirectly at fault for whatever issue that you are bringing your car in for repairs for while under warranty).

Placebo effect from the filter? I don't know about you, but I can tell the difference with mine. The exhaust note on start-up is a bit louder, the engine sounds a bit more aggressive, I feel a little increase in throttle response, and I can feel the 5.5whp with my butt dyno from 6k rpm's to redline.

From what i've seen this isn't worth it. It has a huge orange peel effect if it's not done right and I haven't even seen one done right without that effect.

I was thinking about dropping an K&N intake in but also looked at the Perrin CAI because the sound mostly. I was wondering are the HP gains the same because you said it's about 5 WHP for the drop in filter and from what I've read the CAI is also about 5 WHP before tuning. about 10-15 after tune.

Yea, all of the CAI's and drop-in's were roughly the same. A few CAI's only showed gains of 2-3whp, and the highest I think was 6.5whp. The dyno's were all done independently of eachother, with each one done with one run stock and one run with the new mod. Of course, there is always the possibility for variances, but basically, the drop-in's provided the same gains as the CAI's on our cars. Apparently, our stock air box is designed pretty well.

However, this was all done without tuning the car afterwards. Some of the CAI's may produce more than others after a tune; that I do not know. What I do know is that if some do tune better than others, we're still only talking about couple of whp difference, if any difference at all. A filter for 5.5whp at $40 is much more cost efficient than a CAI that costs $400 for similiar gains, in my opinion.

The other thing to keep in mind is how you plan on doing future mods. I'm leaning towards going with an electric supercharger next year and using that until my warranty expires, at which point I want to go turbocharged. A CAI is not compatible with the electric supercharger, and is not compatible with most turbo kits... whereas a drop-in is compatible with the ECS, and I'm not worried about losing out on my $40 investment (drop-in) when I do go turbocharged.

EDIT: Oh yea, I did a few hours of reading on the Electric Supercharger (ECS) thread yesterday and today, and it looks like a fantastic bang for the buck, easy (and quick) to install and uninstall mod. 5 minutes to swap back to stock for dealer visits, 20 minutes to re-install afterwards. Not as heavy duty as a turbo in terms of peak gains, but if the cost is around $1,500 for 50whp/50wtq with +80wtq in our torque dip... yea, I'd do that

Thanks, glad to have found this out before I dropped money on a CAI, I love the sounds from Perrin's CAI but it's not worth that $300 for me. I initially was going to get a K&N drop in and will now go back to getting a drop in if it's the same gain I much rather spend my money elsewhere at least for now. Thanks for that in depth info also!!

I think eventually I might be interested in turbo or supercharger but that is WAYY down the line and not anytime soon.
