Can someone who has installed this kit please do me a big favor and measure the distance from the oil filter lip, to the bolt on the second pulley? How many inches from the lip to the bolt is it? Need to know if my oil cooler will fit before I install my kit.

This is the best page I could find with dimensions and photos. Looks like the bolt is very close:

Thank you, I had to read through this entire thread to find this. Somehow I missed it.

Let me know if everything fits. I'm 99% certain that you will need to use a slightly shorter idler bolt/nut to make the Forester DIT oil cooler work. The KW kit's idler bolt/nut juts right over the lip of the OEM oil pan. Assuming the Forester oil cooler goes straight up, there will likely still be some interference.

The distance from the top of the oil filter lip to the bottom of the bolt is approximately 35.2mm

If anything I will grind down the lip of the oil cooler as it's not needed. The oil cooler itself is the same thickness as an oil filter, right up to the top lip, which can be ground down.

Sorry to keep bumping this lol. But it looks like it's going to be real close. The lip starts at 1"3/4. This picture is the best I could get.

In the mean time I will see if I can find a riser. If so I can get the WRX bolt that is longer and raise the lip up a bit. Either that or I bust out the dremel and remove that lip all together.

This solution will perform the best since you won't have to worry about over cooling your oil in the winter, and it will bring the engine oil up to temp faster. Win win.

It MIGHT fit... if you can confirm it'll work I'll be the first person to buy one myself since I'm in the market for an oil cooler as well.

Even if the lip of the Forester oil cooler assembly can be made to clear the idler bolt/nut, don't you have to screw the assembly with the inlet/outlet pipes sticking out down? Perhaps it may be as simple as having to loosen & remove the idler bolt/nut to install.

Just curious, did you guys pay attention to the oil reservoir level as mentioned in the instructions? Maybe, this might be the root cause of your oil leakage issues

I think I totally overfilled my oil reservoir (primarily because I read somewhere in this thread I should have about 2" left it the plastic rotrex bottle). The rotrex instructions tell you to take the measurement while the engine is running between 2k-3k. I still have coolant coming out of the top of the reservoir, dripping, & smoking up on the header (even after having siphoned a decent amount out) when I drive it on the street or freeway for a bit.
