on a side note I was able to improve my best lap time at The Ridge Motorsports Park by 1 second before the belt goes bad, cannot wait to receive my belt and test the new tires

I missed a shift at the drag strip in my old neon. I went from 7500 rpm in 3rd to 2nd, and side stepped the clutch. Other than the power steering belt slipping off and the engine stalling nothing wrong came of it. I restarted, picked up my belt, nursed it back to the pits. Put the belt back on and run another dozen or so passes that day. I put another ~150,000 km's on that engine afterward, and a couple hundred drag passes, and I never once opened the engine. If a shit box neon can do it once, I'm sure this engine can do it once.

Timing belts and timing chains have a different consequence with over revs... And the neon valve springs are stronger than the frs's (!!!)

I can't speak about the FA20's valve springs, but the DOHC neon springs were pretty bad. The SOHC's were decent though. We can thank BMW's influence for that. |

I had a look at Cem's broken belt and it had a pattern of missing rubber chunks on one side. This to me seems like the belt/pulleys were not aligned perfectly which in my experience can cause the belt to break. I wonder if a pulley is coming loose?

I am not really sure but I have been periodically checking my belts from both outside and inside and also making sure the tension bolt is within specs.. maybe I should check my pulley to see if it is coming loose like you mentioned

Was your belt stable or did it have any movement in it while spinning? I'm nervous now because my belt still moves back and forth indicating something is out of alignment...I need to get that figured out before the next track day...

^ I would contact kraftwerks about it. Make sure you speak to a kraftwerks professional. Most of the time a skunk 2 rep will answer and they don't know much about the kraftwerks. At least it has been in my experience.

K, just figured I'd give you guys an update on my BRZ.
Thing has been sitting for a while, due to lack of spare time. All buttoned up now, with oil cooler etc. Car is still slow, but at least not painfully so any more. LOL Definitely an improvement. WAYYYY more fun to drift. Will have some power guestimates based on GPS data as well as lap times (track, not strip) in a few days. |

Really do have any clue of what power your putting down on the wheels. Try Virtual Dyno and just input your pull logs and basic car info.
