CFD analysis of BRZ/FRS rear diffuser

Yes I will snap some shots this afternoon. I'll toss it on my lift so you guys can see it well from the area you are concerned with. To clarify, the front mounting tabs to the swaybar mounts has remained as intended. This means there is no difference in air channeling on the leading edge of mine. The stand-offs were for the left and right mounting points bot front and back. The front mount of the two holes is a 1" stand-off and the rear hole is 1.5" stand-off. The pictures will clearly show what I did.

,but I seem to remember A2 Windtunnels gave some Unbelievable Rates to Non NASCAR/INDY CAR Teams!

From I think $200-300 hr 1Hr minimuim ?

I did quit a bit of Land Speed Racing at Bonneville ,El Mirage,and a TOP SECRET Private 5 Mile Drive way goin 237mph in Testing- Naked {No Body Work}

but like ALWAYS Blew it up 1 Mile into my WR Run at Bonneville.

A2 is the least expensive tunnel in the area, but rates are closer to $700/hr as I recall. The problem with A2 is the small size.

Overall, in my opinion I'd have to spend quite a sum of money to get wind tunnel data that would be more valuable than what @Hancha Group can provide me. As a small operation it just makes sense to me, and I can help further their experience and capability.

Did you ever get some shots @AZFA20 ? I wonder if I can get some aluminum stand-offs at Lowes or Ace Hardware.

I did and I apologize I sorta let it slip my mind. I will have them uploaded in the next couple hours when I get home. ACE is going to be your best bet. What I did was simple but very effective. Looks good too

Hope this helps guys. I left the car up on the lift if there are any other angles you need but I figured this pretty much gets the point across. Its sorta hard to see in the pics but the stand-offs have washers on the bottom of the diffuser, then again on top, then the aluminum spacers, then larger washer on the bottom of the wheel well plastics, then another larger washer on the inside of the wheel well plastics. In total each stand-off has 4 washers for stability and strength. The front is again 1" and the rear is 1 1/4", everything else is mounted as designed. This clears the spats and the EVO 3 cans with no modification other than me putting some 1/8" thick high density foam tape sandwiched between the Greddy cans and the diffuser. This was to soak up any vibration and gain more clearance between the two components. The entire diffuser is as solid as it would have been if mounted flush on the outer mounting sections

Thanks for the pics. It looks like it more to clear the rear spats than the Greddy exhaust. Looks like it shouldn't be to hard to space it down a little bit if I need to. I will be giving the install a shot this weekend, and I will get some pics as well. I think my Evo3 tips are closer to the rear bumper than yours are as well, so I might have more clearance to my cans.

My intentions were to modify the spats initially just like FT86Speedfactory did on theirs but once I got it up there the clearance with the exhaust was such that I had to drop it down some anyway to clear the cans so I figured what the hell I'll kill two birds with one stone. You will see once you get yours on there too. The Diffuser is easily flexible so you could mount it as normal but it will wrap the cans quite a bit. Unless you have poly engine mounts the exhaust moves a lot under load and shifts. You will have to use some kind of medium between the diffuser and the cans though or it's gonna be pretty obnoxious with rattling.

Are you using the stock exhaust hangers? Wonder why yours is possible tucked more than mine. That would certainly help if it is.

I'm now including rubber/foam sticky strips as part of the piece just for that reason.

Wow their Prices sure went Up!

I've learned the Real world testing ie {Racing/Track Time} is the best possible way to actually See,Feel ,and interpret Real World Conditions.

Even the Best Computer Programs and wind tunnel can't Simulate All Real World Conditions !

To many Variables,not mention Time & Money to test it all !

You are on the right track though . Keep up the Hard Work,and Hopefully More Resources will come your way !

I would Love to R&D 1 for you if you ever get any extra prototypes ?

I've Been into Aero Dynamic R&D since I started testing {Racing and Winning} for SCOTT Aero Handle Bars,and HED Disc wheels 20+ years ago. !

Then when I Grew up From Bicycle Racing.

Too Motorized Racing.

Heck, I had to make or have made just about every Part on my LSR V-rod's .

You have to really Love what your doing,and Never Give Up !!!
