It doesn't use any during normal operation between changes and change oil and OEM filter after every track day.
I've still got my break-in oil (hmm, maybe time to get that changed...), and after 1400 miles and 3 track days the level is about 1/3 between the two holes on the dip-stick (hmm, I should probably figure out what that means...)

FR-S owner's manual p. 268-9 says it's 1.1 qts. between dipstick holes. When I change oil + filter I do a hot drain with car on level for an hour while I rotate tires, etc. Then I refill using the 5.7 qt. w/filter spec'd in the manual. After start and leak check, dipstick will then read about halfway between the holes.

No oil consumption on today's rally but gained empathy for our high altitude owner's power loss, just had to shift more than usual to stay on the boil although I was easily able to hang with another driver's tubo WRX Sti with my better corner exit speed. It turned into a cruise after the Timberline Rd. section came to a halt due to a rollover accident. Another WRX pilot not with our group descending Mt. Hood lost control and spun, bouncing off the uphill (lucky compare to downhill cliff) side destroying every corner before entering the ditch and rolling. Amazingly, the roof held and he walked away.

Sam, where/when is your next track day? Realistically, Laguna Seca won't happen this year but I'd like another play day to work on newly discovered art of trail braking.

There's a hooked on driving day 10/25.. http://www.hookedondriving.com/hooked-on-driving-events

I've never done one of theirs, but have heard good things.. It's a for profit company, and costs a little more, but I was told you get more track time too.

I figure I'll go rain or shine. I'm curious to try the track when it's wet one of these days :-)

Doesn't make any difference if you are in front or behind...if you're in front you just passed him, if you're behind you're just about to pass him. At least that's my story.

My brother did one of theirs at ORP a couple of years ago. He said it was OK if a little expensive. He didn't mention anything about extra track time.

I'm going to call it quits for the season. Old man on a fixed income! Actually I want to do some improvements to the car. Brakes, strut bar, bigger sway bars front and rear. Maybe next season I can keep up with you guys?

BTW, Note to self: Take off the license plate next time. Pretty much ruins all the pictures.

You probably want to get that changed, just had mine changed (gotta burn through those free services somehow ) and it looked blacker than a good imperial stout. For reference it had been 1000 miles since the last change and included 1 track day. I think I'll send a sample I took to Blackstone just to see what kinds of interesting things show up.
