Speaking of wx, the forecast improved markedly this morning, now saying 73 and sunny.

Tempting. Maybe I'll cancel the Sunday PCA autocross in favor of AROO although that means swapping out and bedding in the track pads. Since I function in slow motion when working on a car, that means four hours counting pad and rotor prep (sanding and brake cleaner wash) and running down to the local airport to bed them in. Still considering it and am impressed that there will most likely be 40+ participants (but only 2 AR's!).

I'll see if I can get off work on Sunday for the AROO day.
I've been meaning to try out my car on the track.

*edit* moved the work to Saturday, so I'll be there Sunday. I'll be running novice though as I've never driven around PIR.

Maybe I missed it on the enrollment and official AROO website, but what time should we arrive tomorrow morning? It lists the run group times but I'm guessing we need to arrive earlier for tech and driver's meeting, right?

Good turnout, 44 and counting.

Yeah I missed it as well, it says all drivers must attend a driver meeting, but does not list the time.

At this point I'll probably just show up real early and hope for the best.

I'm not sure about helmets out your way. I'd try the biggest motorcycle shop around, SM (moto) rated helmets are OK for everyone but Porsche track days which is good since I was unable to find an SA (auto) helmet locally. Look for a 2010 rating, they have expiration dates usually about 10 years out but there might be 2005 rated helmets at deep discounts.

I'm not sure what to do about gloves, either. I went to the local factory outlet mall looking for Isotoners but it's a week early for gloves. Maybe Home Depot? AROO specs full finger leather/nomex unperforated but I'm wondering just how picky they'll be?

I have a call into the event director to confirm arrival time and will also ask about gloves and post up.

Ed, the event coordinator from AROO, left a message while I was out. Gates open tomorrow morning at 7:00, driver's meeting at 8:15.

I found unlined leather gloves at Home Depot, napa ($15) or deerskin ($20), neither what you'd call a driving glove but are the thinnest, softest and most flexible they carry.

Think of it as a Black Friday track day, bargain price for two extra runs. C'mon out and express your automotive Alpha side twice in one week. Enrollment is still open today until 6:00. Two more signed up in the past hour, 46 and counting.

BTW, which S/C kit are you getting? I'm wishfully thinking for a TRD kit but even the rumor mill has gone silent.
