Okay Tranz, but what about the SRT Track Package? Is that only available on the GTS?

To be honest Orbital I don't know. Just read an article on autoblog about the SRT and GTS trim. I could see them offering a track package or the ACR version in the future.

I just don't see why ever car needs to rev to 9000rpm, have a naked interior and weigh 2200 lbs and cost $22k on this forum. It is bind boggling sometimes.

They aren't that dumb. The main competitor is the ZR1. The ZR1 starts at $111k. Comes with 638hp and 600 pound-feet of torque. The Viper is 640hp and 600 pound-feet of torque. Dodge will not out price themselves against their main competitor in the ZR1.

Remember there are two trims: "The SRT is meant to "offer a perfect blend of extreme performance and a deliberate preservation of what has become the iconic DNA of the Viper," says Ralph Gilles, President and CEO of the Street and Racing Technology Brand and Motorsports. Buyers looking for a little more technology can opt for the GTS, which adds such niceties as a two-mode active suspension and interior creature comforts not normally associated with the Viper."

Don't want the fancy interior with nab, just get the SRT.
the viper has never been as "refined" as a ferrari, porsche, lambo, etc. and therein lies the problem. the whole appeal of the viper has always been that its supposed to be a modern shelby cobra. the rawness is half of its appeal. why shy away from that? viper fans were upset/scared that stability control would ruin it. that's the mindset of the viper fan base. meanwhile they made a car for the 50-something filthy rich guy in malibu who wants the hottest car to look cool and pick up 20-something floozies...

and 140k isnt that outrageous. the body is made up of like 44% carbon fiber. its also handbuilt. this car wont be cheap. the lowest trim may be 120k and compete with the ZR1, but the top trim will be way more.

i believe the track pack is available for the regular viper and GTS. the track pack is just tires and 2 pc rotors i think...

i agree, but in this case it does matter. sure everyone wants a better interior, but not at the expense of its character. the jury is still out on just how far they went on this car. i mean 18 speakers? that's ridiculous to even offer that shit on a viper, the car that has abs and stability control only because of the law...

I don't know the full details of the car as the info about the car has just come out. But isn't that partly the reason for the SRT & GTS versions? If you want more raw get the SRT and if you want more refined get the GTS (if you are looking at Porsche 911 turbo, Audi R8...etc.).

I agree the Viper isn't as refined and probably never will be as the European specials, but now that Fiat group is in charge I can see them adding some of that European refinement to the Viper. I think that is a good thing personally (better quality interior, better fit and finish, better quality control...etc.). Just my thoughts.

Good video with some nice angles of the car

details are sketchy as to what the differences are between the 2 right now. but it seems the GTS adds things like the active suspension, 18 speaker sound system, different wheels, different hood, full leather interior, power seats, etc... lets just hope that they didnt add too much refinement to the regular viper that is supposed to appeal to the traditional viper fan.

make no mistake, im not saying make the interior shit. im just critical of this movement to move everything upmarket. perfect example is the death of lotus at the hand of danny bahar. a supercharged v6 exige s???? are you fucking kidding me? chapman is turning in his grave...

I'm sure they'll offer a "stripper" version that'll appease all the crybabies complaining about the car not being in the "spirit" of the original Viper vision.

SRT is base model, and GTS is the premium model.

GTS costs more I would think? Cause of the nav/entertainment system and other creature comforts in the car? Maybe not?

The first Dodge Viper I feel in love with on the spot. The second one, while it looked great, didn't have the same dramatic effect on me. It looks like it was carved by hand and it is absolutely stunning for it.

Curious to see what engine they put in it.

GTS should be more expensive with all the leather and luxury amenities.
