I wonder if you still need nuts the size of volleyballs to drive it well...

Nice! Pretty fitting considering the Viper's history at The Ring.

I agree. The help/advice they got from Ferari and Masserati really paid off.

Yes. I truly miss Viper. It was the car that made me like American cars. LOL

am i the only one who kinda thinks they dropped the ball here?

Styling: its way too busy. the front looks like a ferrari and the rear looks like a maserati. WTF? where has the muscular Shelby cobra reincarnate gone?

engine: 640/600 is no joke, but there were talks of multiair being used. again, nothing revolutionary. now imagine if they unveiled a DOHC multiair V10 with 8000 rpm redline? people would go nuts. instead its the same old shit, just reworked a bit. not that the 8.4 was bad, but they could have wowed us but didnt.

transmission: i know all you folks are manual lovers, but they could have added a world class dual clutch tranny as an option and put the world on notice. but again, they didnt

infotainment: this car once had no ABS and no TC/SC. it now has a touchscreen infotaiment with 18 speakers and a place to put your ipad. really?

price: the word on the street is around $140k. now the viper was never cheap, but damn 140 is kinda high for this car. they could have lower the price by cutting out the "luxury" crap.

Agreed on the infotainment, but it seems they're moving away from pure American brute force into a more mature and refined market. 911 S type buyers, R8 buyers, that kind of demographic. These are appropriate accoutrements for that market, but I'm not sure that's necessarily in the "spirit" of the Viper. The price will match that demographic as well. I imagine upwards of $120K. Goddamn that's an expensive Dodge.

When you compare the car against who it will be competing against; Porsche/Ferrari/Lambo/Audi R8 I think it is a fair price. Some will still think the price isn't worth it for a domestic and yet it will still kill other cars more expensive than it at the track. However I do not think the car will hit $140k. They aren't that dumb. The main competitor is the ZR1. The ZR1 starts at $111k. Comes with 638hp and 600 pound-feet of torque. The Viper is 640hp and 600 pound-feet of torque. Dodge will not out price themselves against their main competitor in the ZR1.

Remember there are two trims: "The SRT is meant to "offer a perfect blend of extreme performance and a deliberate preservation of what has become the iconic DNA of the Viper," says Ralph Gilles, President and CEO of the Street and Racing Technology Brand and Motorsports. Buyers looking for a little more technology can opt for the GTS, which adds such niceties as a two-mode active suspension and interior creature comforts not normally associated with the Viper."

Don't want the fancy interior with nab, just get the SRT.
