In addition they only weigh 200lbs. So it's a win/win. But if money were no object I'd already have one of these in a caterham and I'd be out driving it right now.

Just give me a mildly tweaked JDM Spec C engine.
Actually that would be a very feasible swap...

The V8 engine from 2 bikes ones sounds very good though...

You guys are all funny. Swapping in an engine that isn't even a Subaru, that is just wrong

LSx in everything!

If porsche uses a 4 cylinder boxer in their alleged upcoming(mostly vaporware?) baby, entry level car? I wonder what the specs will be.

I'm not a brand purist, but I wonder if the hoodline is high enough to allow things other than boxers, and maybe some wide angle V's? Since inline OHC engines are generally kind of tall.

Here is the dyno chart at the wheels from my 2GRFE powered MR2 Spyder.

It's a great engine with excellent throttle response, once it's coupled to a light flywheel and proper manual transmission, along with good flowing intake/exhaust.

In the BRZ you could use the 2GRFSE version, since it is designed for longitudinal mounting. Only thing that sucks is you will have check engine codes, since it expects and automatic gearbox (no MT in the IS350).

SARD offers a MT swap for the 2GR-FSE, there are already a few cars driving around with it in Japan. http://speedhunters.com/archive/2012...ed-mark-x.aspx

The spyder is already a lightweight. Is all of that torque even usable with street tires through the first few gears?

In 1st, not really. 2nd-5th yes.

It hooks up pretty well with the engine right over the rear wheels, and 245/40/17 R1R tires
